A standing 'O' for Bregman

 Games played July 25, 2016

Astros SS Alex Bregman made his MLB debut last night against the Yankees in Houston. Though he didn't get a hit in New York's 2-1 win, Bregman earned a standing ovation before his first at-bat, just missed a grand-slam HR in the 6th inning, and played stellar defense at third base, including retiring Mark Texeira on a down-the-line chopper, and turning a fleet-footed double play. "It's the most fun I've ever had," he told MLB.com. "I was really just trying to do anything I could to help us win." Said teammate Carlos Correa, the 2015 A.L. Rookie of the Year: "He's going to contribute in a big way." Bregman, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 amateur draft, played just 18 games in Triple-A before being called-up by the Astros. Houston plays the Yankees again tonight at 8:10pm ET in Minute Maid Park. Click here to see a variety of videos about Bregman and his call-up.

Oakland's Danny Valencia hit a 2-run HR and an RBI double in a 7-6 loss to Texas. His 429-foot bomb to center field was his 12th round-tripper of the season.

A day after Toronto fans received Kevin Pillar bobbleheads, the centerfielder went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI,and his 8th stolen base in a 4-2 win over San Diego.

Milwaukee LF Ryan Braun reached base all four times he came to the plate in Monday's 7-2 win over Arizona, singling twice, drawing two walks, stealing his 12th base, and driving in his 46th run. Braun's hitting streak has reached 10 games.

Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler went hitless in a 4-2 win over Boston.

Yankees reliever Richard Bleier and Astros reliever Scott Feldman did not play in New York's 2-1 win.

Joc Pederson's Dodgers were idle.
