Glimmers of Hope & Strategy is Key

“In a dark time, the eye begins to see.” This line from Roethke’s poem “In a Dark Time” was the theme of the recent Silver Lining call we held to support and strategize with friends around the country (we recorded the conversation for those who couldn’t join us live).

Among the glimmers of hope discussed on the call were this week’s events in Philadelphia—not the Democratic convention itself, but the large gathering of progressive organizations committed to answering Sen. Sander’s call for a “political revolution.”

We think our Roadmap can serve revolutionary strategy. So we sent a “Sandernista” to represent us at the large gathering of progressives. Stay tuned for news on that…

We’ve just enjoyed a visit to the offices of Yes! Magazine, where we reconnected with old friends and shared copies of our own Nonviolence Magazine. In the photo above, you see (L–R): Stephanie Van Hook, Sarah Van Gelder, Prashant Nema (one of our honorary board members), Fran Korten and myself.
Stay hopeful,
Michael Nagler, Founder & President

Gandhi: Spiritual Force

Our latest show features a talk that co-host Michael Nagler gave at the Vedanta Retreat in Marin County, CA this spring ("Gandhi as a Spiritual Force"). One of the oldest living world religions, Vedanta teaches that the essence of all is infinite and eternal, unchanging and indivisible. You won't want to miss the "Nonviolence in the News" segment. Listen to the show now or download it for later.

Our biannual print magazine is created with love for practical idealists. And now you can enjoy it online too. The web version features content from prior issues, and soon you'll find pieces that we run exclusively on the website.
