Festival of Stakes Day: Record 1.2 Million Dollars!
Throughout nearly 60 years of live greyhound racing at the West Memphis, Arkansas oval, many great greyhounds and “industry firsts” have headlined many of those storied years. However, this October 1st, another storied “first” will take place as Southland Park Gaming & Racing will host the “Festival of Stakes” championships with over a million dollars of added purse. $1.2 million dollars to be exact!
While there has been a million dollar race a couple of times in United States greyhound racing history, it is believed this will be the first total day where over a million dollars in added purse money will be awarded on a single performance. Nine champions will be crowned that day, which begins on the first Saturday in October with a special post time of noon Central Time.

Ebro's Mega Morris
Ebro Greyhound Park will be the site of the finals of the Mega Morris Stakes for pups that have won the first race of their racing careers at Ebro. After all of the rounds were completed, the top contenders for the top prize are:
KILLER PILGRIM won the first three rounds in dominant fashion before encountering traffic and finishing fourth in the semi-final. This guy will be tough with a clean trip.
FF ADAM had two wins and two seconds in the eliminations. He won his semi-final race by going box to wire, but also has the ability to come from behind.
HULA HOOP also has two wins and two seconds in the eliminations. This one prefers the outside for his big rush, but has shown the ability to contend from the rail as well.
WINTER JASMINE has one win and three place finishes in the eliminations. This gal prefers the inside and has a good combination of early and late speed. She is the highest graded hound in the final and has improved throughout the rounds.
JIMMY CORTEZ won his first three eliminations to raise his win total to seven wins in 12 tries. This guy ran into trouble in the semi-final to finish a disappointing 6th, but a return to form makes him a huge threat. Jimmy is also a Grade A greyhound.
KAYLIA ALBRIGHT upset some of the favorites in the last two eliminations. This fast improving pup has a lot of early speed and if she draws an outside post, she could pull off another upset.
Good luck to all of the greyhounds and their connections in the final tonight. This is shaping up to be an exciting race so you won't want to miss it!

Derby Lane Stakes Action!
Derby Lane is gearing up for even more stakes racing action this season with a total of $375,000 in purses and four new stakes races!
2015 AGTOA All-America Team Captain and multi-stakes winner, HUSKER MAGIC, may have retired from the Derby Lane oval, but her legacy and name will forever live on. This season, greyhounds will be able to compete for the title in a stakes race named after the 2015 Rural Rube recipient.
In addition to the $50,000 Husker Magic Fall Sprint, the extended stakes schedule will also include the $10,000 Howl-O-Ween Stakes, $10,000 Thanksgiving Stakes, and $20,000 Remembrance Stake.
Get ready for Derby Lane's fall stakes action that will kick off with the 21st T.L. Weaver Memorial Challenge on Wednesday, August 24th.
