Want to become a Peacemaker?

Zion is working toward connecting all who seek a deliberate response to injustice and violence and want to pray, study and take action for justice and peace in our communities, our church, and the world. Interested in learning more about forming this type of ministry at Zion? Contact Barbara Chin: bmchin@aol.com.

Zion was recently awarded a Congregational Development Grant from the Diocese of Long Island to be used for new signage and Sunday School curriculum (Holy Moly for the younger children and Re:Form for the older children). This is a matching grant so please stay tuned for more information about how you can help with these projects.

Little Dresses for Africa

This summer, Zion is joining with the Ecumenical Women's Fellowship of Long Island to make dresses for Little Dresses for Africa. LDA provides relief to vulnerable children throughout the continent of Africa and beyond.  Volunteers from all over the world join together to make little dresses out of pillow cases or other simple patterns. Because of the widespread AIDS pandemic, little girls are often left to be the primary care givers of their young siblings. The road is especially tough for little girls and women. It is our hope that in delivering dresses to these young girls, that a seed will be planted in their hearts, in the name of Jesus, that they are loved.

Fabric and pillow case (new) can be brought to the food baskets at the back of the church. Patterns for dresses can be found here.

We will bless the dresses we've made on Sept. 11th.

The Book Nook is open this summer!

Need another novel for the beach? Are the kids bored yet? Check out Zion's book nook in the basement (formerly the old library) and pick up a book for $2 or less. Have a book you've already enjoyed? We welcome your donation (leave it on the metal shelf).

The door is always open!
