Initial Public Review Period is Extended to August 5th

The Public Draft of our New Land Development Code was released on May 27th for an 8 week public review period from May 27th to July 22nd.  During that time we have received 521 comments from 35 individuals. Staff is extending the initial public review deadline for an additional 2 weeks (August 5th) in order to provide time for additional input and consideration of this important project.  While there will continue to be opportunities to provide comments throughout the process, input received during the initial public review period will help direct and guide the review and consideration of this important project by advisory committees and policy makers over the next several months. Following is a summary of the types of comments received so far.  A complete draft with all of the comments included can be viewed here.
The community's thoughtful review and consideration of this important project is appreciated and will lead to better results as San Marcos continues to grow.  Below is the general schedule and process for how the input received will be considered by advisory committees and policy makers through the revisions process.  The final draft of CodeSMTX is not expected until after direction from City Council has been received in late fall or early winter.
