Welcome to Week 7 of the 2016 CSA Program! 

This heat is getting to be too much! I don't know about y'all, but we can hardly stand it any more. Luckily, the program will have a nice break after next week and the well will have a chance to rest! But only for a little while until we get the fall/winter crops in and the muscadines start turning colors. They're already so big! 

This week, we'll also have an adjusted share week. The half shares will receive a full size jar of the relish (8 oz.) and we'll adjust the remaining items accordingly. 

After this week, there will only be 1 more week to Session I (which is hard to believe)! Session II will start the program off again on September 27th. Next week, I'll open up the Store for Session II and the monthly payments. Those of you participating right now have an spot available for you for Session II already. Please let me know if you are not going to be able to participate. Also, for those of you who would like to sign up for Session II, let me know! When spaces become available, I'll let each and every one of you know. It'll be on a first-come-first-served basis. 

One of the biggest issues we've found in the past is how to store and freeze the produce you receive in your share. I will have a few documents printed for you at the pick-up location. They will be regarding freezing vegetables, freezing fruits, and storing produce. Ask me for one if you would like a hard copy.
 
DON'T FORGET YOUR BAGS - we will be refilling your cloth bags with your food items. Also, bring back your empty jars and the rings - we can sterilize them and reuse!

FRUITS & VEGETABLES:

This week, you'll receive a combination of the following:

- Zucchini/Squash/Tomatoes
- Figs
- Peaches
- Okra
- Peach-Jalapeno Relish (8 oz for all shares)
- Red Potatoes
- Green Beans
 

MEAT:

If you're interested in meat for Week 8, please let me know your order. I'll have items available from Happy Hogs LLC and Rocking Chair Ranch (beef) and chicken (whole, half birds, leg/thigh quarters, breasts (2 per pack), and wings). Please let me know in plenty of time so I can get the order put in and picked up. Some items may be a special cut, so keep this in mind!
 

RECIPES:

Italian Veggie Bake - from one of our CSA Member's recipe collection

Fresh Fig, Goat Cheese, Honey and Almond Panini - it's a lot to say, but doesn't it sound amazing?

Arkansas Green Beans - these are made using a recipe quite similar to the one I use

Southern Peach Cobbler - I made this Sunday evening... WOW!!!
