Make Composting Convenient with Free Indoor Bins

Organics collection is now the law for most multi-family properties (5+ units) in Alameda County. Providing residents with containers to separate food scraps from trash is a key step to successful composting. If kitchen pails are not available in your city, get them through our free bin program. Green bins for common areas like lobbies, club rooms, gyms, and chute rooms are also available - up to $500 per approved site. Pair with well labeled* recycling and garbage bins to facilitate proper sorting.

Mark Chute Rooms with Clear Signage

Many multi-family properties have garbage chutes on each floor, with carts or bins for recyclables and compostables located elsewhere in the building. Consider placing indoor collection bins in chute rooms (see article above) or if that's not an option, post this downloadable sign, informing tenants where to take materials for recycling and composting.
