Important Reminder

Channel Cats,

The Job Signups are now open for the IE Champs meet July 29-31This will be your last chance to get your required 34 volunteer hours in for this season.  The hours that you are short of 34 will be billed on your August invoice at $10/hour.

On Thursday night, July 28, we will need everyones help setting up!  We have a long 3 day meet, and no one wants to be at the pool until midnight setting up.  I will let everyone know what time we are able to enter the pool area to set up, but it will not be before 8:00pm.

Coaches Corner
Former Channel Cat and Paralympic swimmer Nate Higgins swam and completed one of the toughest Open Water events this year...the Alcatraz swim. Nate has been on a mission to do this for years and finally did it.

The article is about a former swimmer who is doing GREAT things down in the LA area. Nate Higgins is amazing. One of the hardest workers I have EVER had the HONOR to coach. He was a Channel Cat, he participated in the Paralympic Trials, and he has had this dream of Open Water swimming and doing the Alcatraz swim for almost as long as from the day he started swimming with me (after his accident).

Woody is right on the money when he says Nate has taught him more than he has taught Nate...I feel the same way. He is the kind of person you WANT to know and WANT to have in your life. Positive, encouraging, determined. He doesn't tear down he BUILDS!

For anyone thinking things are hard, the water is cold, the mornings are rough...Nate gives us a lesson in determination and dedication. I hope this article inspires at least one Channel Cat to "suck it up buttercup" and realize challenges are a part of life. How we handle them is all up to us! Congrats Nate!
