CHEA NEANG, employee of the Ministry of Tourism, proposes a guided tour of the National Museum. He takes great interest in the study of the costumes and traditional dresses from the observation of the statues of gods and others representations on art objects.

Please enjoy your evening with a drink at Bophana Cafe Bar, while discussing the film with your friends or just meditating over it... Cine Soiree is for you to design!

For the screening, we thank you for your kind contribution in our donation box at the Bophana Center. Screenings take place every Thursday at 6:30PM, in the Bophana Center's screening room.

The Jungle Book

Directed by Zoltan Korda, 105 min, 1942, English version

The Jungle Book was a famous movie in 1942 in the world. It tells the story of the struggle between Indian villagers and the jungle. A young boy, Mowgli, who is raised by wolves in the Indian jungle, is captured by villagers and helped by Messua, who doesn’t realize he is the child she has lost years ago after an attack by the tiger.

Shiiku, the Catch

Directed by Rithy Panh, 90min, 2011, Khmer version with English subtitles

Cambodia in 1972, the black American pilot who has been taken prisoner is not an enemy, but merely an animal that needs to be taken care of by Cambodian children from the rice fields.

Chaktomuk Film Insight


Screening of short films "A Fistful of Pebbles" Chap Som Chanrith, 2014, 07 minutes, Khmer with English subtitles and "Revive" Poy Chhunly, 2014, 03 minutes, no dialog. Followed by Q&A Session with the directors.

Special Cine Soiree “Chaktomuk Film Insight” for all film lovers: part of Chaktomuk Short Film Festival 2016, Chaktomuk Film Insight aims to showcase two remarkable short films, "A Fistful of Pebbles" and "Revive", from its selection last year. Participants are encouraged to ask the invited filmmakers in-depth questions about their production, while exploring opportunity to submit their films to the festival this year.

A Strange Islam

Directed by Agnès De Féo, 52min, 2006, Khmer version with English subtitles

Through this documentary, we discover the Cham community in south-west Vietnam. It constitutes a majority of the Hindu religion but a third of Cham villages are Muslims. Divided in two branches (Cham Bani and Cham Sunni), the presence of Islam in Vietnam is descended from Champas. Nowadays, it exists 53 minorities who conserve their language, their writing, and their tradition.
