Thank You from Jane

To all the women involved with making the RUMPs - ALL of you rock! What you guys made are going to make a lot of girls' lives easier. I am looking forward to Camp GLOW and teaching them how to make them and then giving yours to them...I will make sure to send pictures with the girls and their RUMPs. I continually appreciate the ongoing love and support from home - it helps make this experience greater than it already is. Also, thank you for the birthday wishes - it feels good be 28!
Love Always,
Jane

VBS Caught the Wave!

Vacation Bible School 2016 was a resounding success! July 25-29 was full of bible stories, crafts, games, snacks, and science experiments reinforcing Nehemiah 4:14b, "Remember that the Lord is great and awesome!" Thirty-one children from the community came together to fulfill our mission to collect food items for local children who are hungry, just like Jesus did many times during his time on earth. We learned how God helps, sends, loves, calms, and creates for each of us. The fun ended with a night for parents to visit our church to see their children recite verses, sing songs, share daily "wave words," and retell the exciting bible stories. Because we met our mission goal, we had a pizza pool party at the city pool and threw pies in Snappy's face! It was a great and awesome time worshiping together all week!

Vacation Bible School could not have been a success without all those who helped make it possible, from publicizing the event, planning activities, decorating, donating items, cooking and serving dinner, delivering pizza, taking pictures, directing children, teaching classes, leading worship time, and performing skits - It takes an entire church family to make VBS great, and you all did that! To each and every person who put time and effort into this year's VBS - THANK YOU! God is so good!

Please visit the SPC Facebook page to see photos of this year's VBS and relive the fun!

Back-to-School Dinner and Family Fun Night

We will celebrate the kids being back to school with a pot-luck supper on Wednesday evening, August 24th, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Roper Hall. The church will provide the meat and everyone is invited to bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share. Following the meal, there will be games and activities in Roper Hall. Please make plans to join us.

Good News. Great Joy.

Collection week for Operation Christmas Child will be here before we know it - November 14 - 21! If you are one of those savvy shoppers who looks for shoebox items throughout the year, don't forget to pick up some school supplies for your shoebox while you are back-to-school shopping for your kids. If you have any questions about the shoeboxes, please contact Linda Hawthorne at 775-2082.
