Goals and Objectives

2016 - 2017



Goal 1
Continue Professional Relationships with Powerful Agencies


a) City, County, COG and State,
b) Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation and Gallup Land Partners
c) Gallup McKinley County Schools
d) Similarly oriented non profits.
e) Keep up to date on all energy projects by the above

Goal 2
Support and Encourage Solar Grid-tie Opportunities


a) Create partnerships and foster relationships with all area utilities: Continental Divide, Gallup, NTUA
b) Explore avenues of collaboration with
Navajo Nation Government.
c) Make connections with qualified people to assist Gallup Solar in promoting grid-tie.

Goal 3
Creating Off-Grid Energy Sovereignty


a) Continue partnering with Chapters and homeowners to bring affordable 1kw systems to remote homes.
b) Develop the  solar corral model
Provide people with education and training for maintenance and upkeep of their off-grid systems.
c) Have supply of off-grid solar items for demonstration and sale to people living in rural areas.
d) Pursue solar companies for donations
of solar products.
e) Research other off-grid systems.
f) Develop earth battery system for outhouses

Goal 4
Continue working with our local Green Technology Experts, Chris Chavez, Ed Munoz, Luis Rodriguez, students and volunteers:


a) Address each new challenge posed by
State Inspector’s mandates.
 b) Continue collaboration with Habitat houses, promoting educational training in solar installations.
c) Design and incorporate solar into the cost of the house.



Goal 5
Continue relationships with schools and teachers especially schools that might be getting solar


 a) Initiate annual solar project; pick solar champion each year – celebrate, publicize and award; get nominations for projects from science teachers and others.
 b) Continue participation in Annual Water and Energy Awareness Days making solar messaging to youth relevant to their life ways and climate change with energy games and solar dioramas
 c) Respond to and initiate school/teacher invitations to present on solar energy and climate change.
 d) Continue with student interns and notetakers.



Goal 6
Start a Solar Store on Shandiin
(Coal) Street:

a) Find someone to design, develop and set up a store.
b) Set up store in downtown Gallup supplied with
solar products, to serve as education center, demonstrating products and teaching people use
and upkeep of products.
c) Display big and small solar systems.
d)  Start movement to turn Coal Street into
Shandiin Street.
e) Partner with Economic Development consultants to start a small business.



Goal 7
Create Awareness of Solar Job Opportunities for Young Career Seekers:


a) Become a clearing house for jobs, internships, Workforce Development opportunities, and career counseling at UNM-G.
b) Research available solar certificate programs in the area: San Juan College, Navajo Tech, etc.
c) Inspire school age youth to aspire to  solar career paths through workshops and solar demonstrations.
d) Continue promoting educational training in solar installations with UNMG Construction Tech Department,
local electricians, and UNM students.
e) Start a Solar School.

Goal 8   Actively recruit new members.


AND as you might imagine,

Goal 8 is top priority.

It's going to such a great week in Gallup NM with the 95th Inter-tribal Indian Ceremonial and Rodeo and the NATIVE FILMS SERIES at the newly renovated Historic EL MORRO theatre in downtown Gallup. Come all, to Gallup to enjoy a great week of good food, dancing, art finding, rodeos, Buffalo riding, and the great films
at the downtown El Morro Theatre.

Gallup Solar will be there!
