Great ideas from a librarian, SLP, and PK teacher!

From Amy, Librarian

Sure, I hear *that* in my library from students.
"I cannot find anything to read!"
I do not take it personally.
The reason is because not every book is for every child.
My favorite picture books as a child all shared one thing in common. They were all about a little monkey named Curious George.
I loved everything about Curious George.
But not every child is going to connect with my favorite childhood book.

Over the years, there is one resource list that I have returned to over and over.
It a list of books chosen by librarians at The New York Public Library.
The list is titled, “100 Great Children’s Books”.
Books on this list connect you to a world of children’s literature that is engaging.
All of the books on the list make for a great read aloud, as well.
Not all of the books are picture books.
There are some chapter books, as well.

And just in case you were wondering, my favorite monkey made the list.

From Laura, SLP
If you've jumped on the lightbox bandwagon, Laura has a freebie for you! Rock On with Speech & Language is the perfect addition for a therapy room!

Print on regular paper, vellum (more transparent and affordable - Laura's favorite) or laser jet transparencies. This image is on vellum.

Then, check out more lightbox inserts - just for SLPs!  Each one is set to print to allow for the strips on the lightbox - no funny lines. Check out the preview for examples.

Who needs this sign?
Lisa's kiddos, definitely.
We're betting a few more students need a visual reminder.
