January 2015 Meetup

Wednesday, January 28th, 2015

January's MSP Audio Geeks Meetup will be on Wednesday, January 28th from 7-9pm at Urban Growler Brewing Company.

From the website:
"Urban Growlerâ„¢ Brewing Company is the first woman-owned and -brewed microbrewery in Minnesota.

The Brewery was founded in 2013 by Head Brewer Deb Loch and her partner Jill Pavlak. These two combined their complimentary skills and passions to create great beer for everyone – the scientific, creative, and business-minded brewer Deb, and the entrepreneur, sales, marketing and “make friends with anyone” Jill. This makes the Urban Growlerâ„¢ beer, taproom and brand approachable to everyone.

Our mission is to bring people together through beer. The brewery, taproom and brand will help establish community among all beer drinkers. Deb brews traditional beers but also gets creative with the Plow to Pintâ„¢ series, where local ingredients and the farmers that produce them are featured. Chef Paul Suhreptz has joined the team, too."

Feel free to invite your friends. Please RSVP to mspaudiogeeks [at] gmail [dot] com so we can keep an eye out for you.

Helping one of our own

You may remember Corey Schreppel, the Wits Technical Director, from such meetups as our November 2014 meetup. Corey's father, George, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) last summer. Some major modifications must be made to the home he shares with his wife Tammy and daughter Brittany. In order to accomplish this they are asking for help via Go Fund Me. You can read the full story and donate to the campaign here: http://www.gofundme.com/georgeschreppel. We wish George, Tammy, Corey, and Brittany all the best.

January 2015 Audio Society of MN Meeting

The Audio Society of Minnesota will have its next meeting on Tuesday, January 20th, from 7-9 PM.

From the website:
"It's our annual Bring & Brag. Pick out a favorite tune to share, and bring it in on CD or vinyl for all of us to listen to together. It's a great event to discover new music, and an opportunity for you to share what you've been into recently.

As per usual, we'll do our best to make a list of what was played, so if you hear something you like, you can look it up later.

Bring & Brag is a nice break from the technical lectures and gear demonstrations that normally fill our calendar: it reminds us it's all about the music, after all. Also, it's a fantastic opportunity to bring guests that are on the fence about coming. So invite those friends!

As always, discussion and snacks will follow.

Meetings are held at:
Pavek Museum of Broadcasting
3517 Raleigh Avenue
St. Louis Park, MN 55416

Refreshments are served; guests, visitors, and new members are welcome to attend."

Audio Society of Minnesota

The Audio Society of Minnesota is a non-commercial hobby organization incorporated in 1979. They present monthly meetings from September to May/June of each year, and publish a monthly ASM Bulletin during that time.

They support all audiophile interests. They have tube freaks and solid-state freaks, people who only listen to digital and people who would be happy if digital had never been invented, folks who have never seen an LP in their lives and others who have thousands, members who think nothing of making major expenditures for audio gear and others who are interested in the best bang for their buck, some with advanced degrees in engineering and some who don't know an Ohm from a Watt, those who think of their hobby as a science and those who think of it as an art. But they all have one thing in common: They love music and they love to hear it accurately and emotionally recreated in their homes.

Meetings are held at the Pavek Museum of Broadcasting:
3517 Raleigh Avenue
St. Louis Park, MN 55416
