Most Destructive Viruses in 2015 and
6 Ways to Prevent Them

Cryptolocker This is a Trojan Horse ransomware that targets computers running Microsoft Windows. It encrypts certain files and then displays a message that offers to decrypt the data if a payment is made.
Zeus This is a botnet toolkit that creates malware that steals identities, bank information, and other data. It is primarily spread through drive-by downloads and phishing schemes.
ZeroAccess Also known as Max++ or Sirefef, is used to download other malware on an infected machine and to form a botnet mostly involved in bitcoin mining and click fraud.

                                    What can you do?

1. Do a full back up on your system on a regular basis. The best way to clean an infected file is to replace it with an original non-infected one.
2. Do not allow your web browser to automatically run programs such as MS Word or other programs through its e-mail program. Configure your browser to launch WordPad or Notepad instead. One of the biggest and growing threats is the macro virus, which is spread through data processing and spreadsheet programs.
3. Configure your web browsers to disable ActiveX, Java, and JavaScript. Not only will you be saving your computer from contracting a virus, it will also increase connection speed.
4. You cannot get a virus by simply being online or by reading e-mail. You have to download and launch an infected file before it will spread. Therefore, do not launch any unsolicited executable files sent via e-mail.
5. Always use an anti-virus software program, one that has a fairly complete database of viruses and that is able to update. New viruses are produced daily, so it's important to have software that can detect the latest threat.
6. If you need additional assistance, call us at 949-252-8772 to have our technicians get your computer back to health.

Smartphones, tablets, and PCs should appear this year that can send and receive data wirelessly more than 10 times faster than a Wi-Fi connection.

The wireless technology that will allow this is known as 60 gigahertz, and goes by the name “WiGig.” Computing giants including Apple, Microsoft, and Sony have quietly collaborated on the new standard for years, and a handful of products featuring WiGig are already available. But the technology will get a big push this year, with several companies introducing products featuring WiGig to market.

How fast is WiGig? According to Wilocity, a company that manufactures 60GHZ chips used for WiGig, it can transfer 1000 photos between notebooks in five seconds. Uploading a two-minute HD video recording from a camcorder takes about a minute on a standard 802.11n Wi-Fi network, but would take a mere three seconds over WiGig. Downloading a 1080p HD movie would take three minutes instead of the hour it consumes over 802.11n.

So be on the look out for new products stamped with the WiGig logo, it's an exciting network technology with the ability to completely transform your digital experience.
