Happy New Year!

We hope the holidays treated you well and that you're ready for an exciting new journey around the sun!

To prepare for the garden's reopening in the spring, we'll be having our first meeting of the year on January 14th, at 7pm, in the basement of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. The agenda is as follows:
  • Selecting a new Secretary for the garden group (we are still accepting nominations, self or otherwise).
  • Discussing the spring kick-off: when it will be, what activities we'll have, etc.
  • The possibility of holding an annual fundraiser.
  • Devising a planting plan for the year.
The meeting is open to everyone, and as always, we encourage participation! If you know you won't be able to attend, but would still like to contribute your ideas and thoughts, just send an email to this account.

Another event to add to your calendar is the annual Rooting DC forum. It will be held on February 28th at Wilson Senior High School from 9am-4pm. Registration opens on January 15th.

"Rooting DC is a FREE, all-day gardening forum that aims to provide education about urban food production and consumption, to cultivate health and preserve the environment. The program includes dozens of interactive workshops, cooking and food preservation demonstrations, and panel discussions focusing on youth gardening, nutrition, sustainable growing techniques, and healthy food access. The event also hosts 60+ green businesses and nonprofit from throughout the region at an information fair."

That's it for now,
see you in the Spring!

Putting into your mouth what the Earth has grown is perhaps your most direct connection to [it].
