Happy New Year!

We are starting with a roar!

FIrst Meeting January 7, 7-9 pm
Please come! At our Dec. meeting we identified 8 Goals/Projects for the coming year. Clean ups, Bikes/Hikes, King Tide Rides, community outreach. We can't do it without you!

MarinSEL at Terra Linda HIgh
We are about to launch into our third semester working with the Environmental Leadership class at TLHS. This year, the students will be working with us and the City of SR's "Litterati" program, to identify trash "Hot Spots" in order to more effectively target clean ups. If you like to work with students, please contact Judy at 415-472-3345.

Civic Center Lagoon Project
Alex Kahl, Dan Monte and Aurora Mahassine, GWC members in this year's Marin Environmental Forum class, are developing strategies for cleaning up the foul (fowl?) water at the Civic Center Lagoon. To get involved, call Alex at 415-499-0833.

Local Water Use and Re-Use Event
Saturday, January 24 from 9:00 AM - Noon at the Bay Model Visitor Center in Sausalito, come learn about Marin's water infrastructure, new tech for reuse, and ways to conserve. Speakers and a panel--this will be a very informative morning! Registration and more info on marinefm.org. Plan time to view the Bay Model while you are there.

Watershed Tours
GWC will be offering tours of the headwaters, bay, and city portion of Gallinas Creek in the upcoming months. Rachel Kamman, noted local hydrologist and other experts will be on hand to answer questions and provoke a new way of thinking about our creeks and waterways. Dates will be posted on the website as we confirm them.

The next King Tides are Jan. 18, 19 and 20 with tides over 7 feet expected midday on Jan. 20. If it's raining or there is runoff, the water can rise even higher. There is also (as is usual with King Tides) a very low minus tide happening those evenings.
