Reflecting on 2014 and looking forward to the new year

COOKEVILLE -- The year 2014 was a good year for Cookeville Leisure Services and Public Facilities, filled with successful events, record numbers of people visiting our facilities, added amenities in our city parks and exciting steps toward great things to come in 2015.
Our skilled maintenance staff completed the construction of a new restroom facility at West End Park, which opened in late October. With that project complete, demolition and reconstruction of a new concession stand, which will also feature a public restroom, at Cane Creek Park is underway. Weather permitting, construction of that new facility is expected to be complete in spring.
Plans for a new, fully-inclusive playground at Dogwood Park kicked off in 2014. The Heart of the City playground design day and fundraising kick off brought thousands of people to the park and the committee organizing playground fundraising and building efforts has high hopes for 2015 developments. Other improvements on the horizon for Dogwood Park include construction of a restroom/dressing room/ storage facility for the Dogwood Performance Pavilion, fencing and a bridge across the park’s waterway.
We also, expanded the popular Father Daughter Date Night event to four evenings, held the city’s first Story Fest in the Park, hosted the Cemetery Walk (which happens every two years), held numerous community classes  and hosted more than 30 free public events in 2014!

  •  32,121 guests enjoyed the Cane Creek Gymnasium
