Green Build Hub Construction Update - January 2015
Here at CSBT we are embarking on our biggest project yet, The Green Build Hub. We are currently on site and constructing the super-structure. Progress is going well on site with the timber frame sections almost complete which will allow the roof to begin in early January. With a tight build programme it is important that we stay on schedule, this has been a challenge so far with the Cornish weather hindering some site operations.

Local Students help Build Timber Frame
We have had 4 full time Wood Occupations Level 1 students from Cornwall College St Austell, on a one day a week, work experience placement here at CSBT. Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) are a growing option for the construction industry, moving away from traditional building methods. It is essential that here at CSBT we are catering for changes in the industry and enable companies and individuals opportunities to up-skill in order to help businesses to remain viable and flexible.
Below is a video showcasing the on-site construction of the timber frame element of the Green Build Hub and how at CSBT we are engaging with local students offering hands-on work experience. The students have really enjoyed the experience and we hope it aids them to secure apprenticeships next year to progress to NVQ levels 2 and 3.

In February we are planning to host a CPD event on Air Tightness and Thermal Imaging, please watch this space for further details.
The outline plan is to have a brief presentation on why airtightness is important, and then introduce methods of identifying leakage including thermal imaging and its benefits in identifying leaks along with some photographic examples.
There will be a brief demonstration in a test property using the air test equipment and the thermal imaging camera at the end of the session. Details will also be provided on what other situations thermal imaging can be useful for clients.
