Honoring Your Inner Artist

Over the past month, I've been reading Julia Cameron's book, The Artist's Way and working the exercises in the twelve week program, including writing Morning Pages and taking myself on artist dates each week. Morning Pages are three pages of long hand stream of consciousness when you wake up. It clears your brain and stimulates your creativity. You write anything that comes to mind. The second tool that Cameron advocates is the Artist Date where you do something fun like visit a museum, walk through an art supply store or paint. At the end of every week, you check in and journal about your week. There are also simple homework assignments each week to help you work through any blocks that you may be encountering. I am finding that I have been a lot more focused with my writing as a result of this course. As an artist, remember that you have to surround yourself with people who will nurture you and not try to hold you back. This course in discovering and recovering your creative self may be just what you need as well!

To your artistic self!

Celebrate Your Friends!

This is my dear friend Mary Beth, who recently finished an intense yoga teacher training program after a corporate career as a banker. Good bye corporate, hello dream life for this fit and fabulous gal. I am so proud of her and her pursuit of a new and different phase in her life. This picture was taken in the summer of 2013 when we were both trying to figure out what we wanted to be when we grow up. That's Mohonk Mountain House in the background - check it out if you are ever in the Catskills. We loved it. Our time together helped get us focused and inspired.

 Cool Stuff I Recommend:

Edgar: Developed by social media guru, Laura Roeder, this is a social media tool that I recommend. I learned about Edgar back in the fall and made the leap to customer in January. The software system allows you to create a library of content (think visuals, words, video) that you want to share across your social media platforms at key times with your stakeholders. Edgar allows you to create the library and schedule your posts to go to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn automatically. Easy breezy. Check it out.
