National Energy Foundation and Energy Efficiency Partnership for Buildings

Duke of Edinburgh Energy Envoys
As part of our 25-year anniversary activities - and in response to the issues revealed in our national energy survey - we launched our 10 'Big Ideas' projects at our President's Reception in September last year. We're now moving forward with our exciting idea for setting up a network of Duke of Edinburgh Energy Envoys, and we're now looking for potential sponsors/funders to get this project off the ground. Ideally, we'd like 9-10 co-sponsors to provide £10,000 each for each of the first three years alongside funding already allocated by our Trustees. If we can secure financial support soon, we plan to launch the Energy Envoy programme in time for the 2015/16 school year.

Vacancy – Senior Energy Specialist (Non-domestic Buildings)
We are looking to strengthen our non-domestic buildings capabilities by recruiting a Senior Energy Specialist with at least five years' relevant experience. The role will build on our capacity to provide robust and innovative solutions that help improve the use of energy in buildings. If you’re an enthusiastic, self-motivated person who has excellent written and verbal communication skills and want to make a difference in the energy use and comfort of existing and new buildings, this could be the job for you. Closing date: Monday 19 January.

New Year’s MBE honour
Congratulations to our Trustee, Liz Male, who was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for her work at TrustMark UK and services to the construction industry.

CoRE training course. Co-ordination and risk management. Stoke-on-Trent. Tuesday, 20 January
This unit is presented by Bob Prewett (Director, Prewett Bizley Architects) and Peter Rickaby (Managing Director, Rickaby Thompson Associates). It covers the mission-critical role of the retrofit coordinator in providing end-to-end retrofit project management and customer care embracing assessment, procurement, design (including improvement option evaluation and statutory approvals), construction, handover and evaluation. A key aspect of the role is risk management, so this unit also reviews 'retrofit forensic' work which has identified how and why retrofit projects go wrong, what the consequences are and how risks may be mitigated by good project management.
