HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Are you back in the swing of things yet?

I find it funny how January and August/September have so much in common for so many people.

Think about it, whether you are beginning the academic year, a new fiscal year or simply wiping the slate as clean as you can as we embark on a brand new year, January is another chance to put your best foot forward with healthy goals and behaviors. 

It is exciting and full of promise!

Toward the end of 2014, I was introduced to a book by a psychologist named Carol Dweck. She is on faculty at Columbia University in New York City and her book is called “Mindset”.  I was so taken by the title that I bought one for everyone at Rice Psychology Group and at Kids and Canines where I am on the board. 

This week’s blog talks about Mindset and how we can all benefit from shifting from a fixed to a growth mindset.  I am not on her payroll but it is my pleasure to encourage you to check out this book.  I listened to the audiobook version but have also read a great deal of it the traditional way.  Either way, it’s a game changer.

I’d love to hear from you about ways that you are shifting your mindset in 2015!

What's Happening at Rice Psychology

The ADHD parent support group meets at Tampa Day School on Tuesday evening January 13th

Dr. Norrine Russell and Dr. Wendy Rice will be facilitating on:

“Second semester begins: How goal setting, motivation and reinforcements work for your ADHD student."
 
Then, On January 19th Dr. Rice will be presenting at TBAMoMs (Tampa Bay Mothers of Multiples) about a range of behavioral challenges facing all moms but especially moms who have multiple kids of the same or similar ages.
