HSICF's Activities in 2014

Your Generosity Makes a Difference in Thousands of Lives

2014 was another banner year for the Han-Schneider International Children’s Foundation. The HSICF grew its programs both in scope and number of children served.

Our North Korea program added another orphanage with the addition of Donglim and the 850 children served there. As a result of more children in need, the foundation also increased its number of meals served over the record number served in 2013. In total, HSICF served nearly 1.2 million meals to our children in North Korea, Cambodia and Tanzania.

Our Mission Trip program, which launched in 2013, grew in number of participants as we journeyed to Cambodia this year with a group of 18 supporters, staff and Board members to complete the building of the Han-Schneider Balang Preschool in Kampong Cham province. This was the first school the foundation built under the Operation B.O.O.K. (Bringing Opportunity to Our Kids) project.

In Tanzania, the food program continued as we served a daily meal to all the children who attend the Meserani Mission Center School. The Meserani Center also hired a doctor to attend to the heath of the students two days a week, as well as the people in the surrounding villages. The HSICF is looking forward to returning to the Meserani Mission Center in March 2015 to work with the children in the classroom and continue to build the Meserani Mission Center to grow the number of children served there. For more information about the upcoming mission trip, please see the article below.

On the fundraising side, HSICF added two new events this year. First, we held the inaugural Sam Han Classic Golf Tournament in March at the Montebello Country Club. With over 100 golfers signed up, the tournament will undoubtedly be a mainstay. In August, our wonderful summer interns put together a 3-on-3 basketball tournament which was very well-attended and helped the foundation reach a newer, younger generation. Finally, in October, we held our 6th Annual Benefit Dinner & Silent Auction at the Taglyan Cultural Complex. The event was the most attended benefit dinner the foundation has held and helped raise enough funds for our programs in 2015.

The staff and board members at the Han-Schneider International Children's Foundation would like to thank you, our generous and loyal donors, for helping to make 2014 the biggest year in our short history. We hope in 2015 you will continue to support our mission of serving the world’s most destitute and vulnerable children.
