New Year - Refreshed Library!
We've made a few changes around the library in the last month, from new carpeting in front of the circulation desk to more convenient book and media return slots. Baby changing stations will soon be installed in both restrooms, as well! We're making changes to improve your library experience - stop in and let us know what you think!

Create the Beauty, Month by Month Gardening Class -Tuesday January 13th @ noon** - This class provides practical tips for handling all of those extra tasks which are necessary, though mundane, to produce healthy, vibrant flowers--both annuals and perennials. A master gardener will discuss simple steps to plan monthly gardening activities. The goal: to build a plan which leaves an abundance of free to time to "stop and smell the roses." Brainerd Adult Book Club - Wednesday, January 14 @ 2pm - Join us for a discussion of The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman, a novel about marriage and solitude that topped many 2013 best books lists. Read more about the book here. Copies are available at the front desk. No sign up required, just show up for snacks and great conversation.

Community event: Thursday, January 15 @ noon at the Brainerd Public Library - Meet Cassie Carey, the vibrant Crow Wing Energized coordinator, and find out what the grass roots movement is about, from vision to current activities, impact, and how it can help you and those you care about make healthy choices and get involved in the community. Free and open to the public.

Family Book Club is back! - Monday, January 26 @ 4pm Join us for our monthly family book club as we discuss Icefall by Matthew J. Kirby. Our book club is for kids ages 8-12 and their parents/guardians. Pick up a copy of the book at the library and read it together before book club. Then come to book club and talk about your reading as a family and make fun crafts. Snacks too! Family Book Club is a great way to foster a lifetime of reading in your family.

“Paws†to read with Lulu the Dog - Lulu is a Reading Education Assistance Dog. She is very patient and calm and a great listener. Whether you’re a strong or struggling reader Lulu loves to hear kids read stories. Want to read her a story? Lulu will be at the library Monday January 12th and Monday January 26th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Register to read to Lulu by calling the library at 829-5574.
