2014 Reflections
What a year!

2014 has been a whirlwind of momentum for PATOIS, and we're just getting started. It's been 10 years since we were founded, and we feel so grateful to still be contributing to the New Orleans social justice film community. Check out what we've been up to, mark your calendar for what's coming up, and have a wonderful, wonderful New Year!

Culture Collision

PATOIS represented in the arts community annual meet-up Culture Collision this summer. We gave away two all-access festival passes in the raffle and met many new friends.

PATOIS Party

On October 10th, PATOIS hosted a fundraiser at the beautiful Tasseology, complete with raffle, a pop-up art gallery featuring Soraya Jean Louis-McElroy, and music by DJ Brice Nice.

Social Justice in Filmmaking Mixer at NOFF

PATOIS was a community partner with the New Orleans Film Festival this year and we had the honor of presenting several social justice films and of hosting a social justice in filmmaking mixer. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Community Film Series

Our favorite endeavor of the year was the beginning of our Community Film Series. Partnering with Wildseeds, Women with a Vision, the Sex Workers Outreach Project, the Zeitgeist, and Shotgun Cinema, we were able to bring acclaimed filmmaker Lizzie Borden to New Orleans to present free screenings of the radical films Born in Flames and Working Girls. These screenings drew over a hundred community members, and we can't wait to host another one.

Special thanks to WBOK for having us on their show in November!

Coming up next:

Stay tuned for information on another exciting film screening, to be announced very soon!

And, be sure to mark your calendars for:

MARCH 12-22 2015
PATOIS: THE NEW ORLEANS INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL

Like what you see? Please consider donating to ensure that PATOIS can put on the best human rights film festival possible. We need you! You can become a member for only $15, and that $15 goes a long way for us.

Best wishes for a happy New Year!

NOTE TO LOCAL FILMMAKERS: We want you! Please submit your short or feature film (documentary or narrative!) to PATOIS by January 31st, 2015 to be considered for screening in the festival.
