In response to the North Canton community’s desire for educational opportunities, the North Canton Public Library will host a fair celebrating knowledge seekers of all ages.
The fair aims to connect community members with the many educational opportunities available to them both inside and outside of the library’s walls. Attendees will be exposed to resources that will allow them to learn about the arts, technology, literacy, fitness, cooking, music, finance, entrepreneurship and more.
Both obvious and not-so-obvious education providers from in and around North Canton will be on-site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to share information with you. These include the Stark County Community TimeBank, the North Canton YMCA, WordCamp North Canton, the Canton Hacker and Maker Place and many more. Additionally, four mini-classes will be hosted in the Little Art Gallery throughout the event. These include drumming with Elec Simon, upcycled artwork instruction with Pam Neff, “So you wanna be an Entrepreneur†with Joe Rozsa and a 3D prining demonstration presented by the Canton Hacker and Maker Place.
The library’s children’s department will feature the many educational materials available to families with children of all ages.

The North Canton Public Library encourages you to never stop learning. We are making that easier by providing two powerful new continuing education services that are designed specifically for patrons of public libraries. Whether you’re looking for college-level, professional development, or personal enrichment courses, you now have access to online courses that are accessible anywhere, anytime. Some classes may provide CEU credit (at a fee to the user).
Courses that are free for all patrons interested in any discipline

Attend class and complete assignments on your schedule
Each course has a real instructor with whom you may communicate with via eMail

We are excited to introduce the North Canton community to the timebanking concept. Timebanks work to educate, train, and share resources to strengthen neighborhoods and build sustainable, healthy, interconnected communities.
The Stark County Community Timebank will offer an orientation at the library Saturday, January 31 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
We are no longer requiring registration for the ongoing children’s programs listed below. So, pop-in for a storytime or join us for a Lego Club. We hope you can make the full session of each program, but we understand if you can’t. And if you’re that family who always intended to register, but forgot, come join us! We know you’re busy. We know committment can be hard. We’re embracing the flexibilty that families need. BUT we still plan to see you, so mark your calendars!

Be sure to bring your favorite graphic novel, or whatever graphic novel you happen to be reading at the moment for our first meeting on January 22. We’ll discuss them. The Heart Gallery, a project of the Stark County Department of Job and Family Services, is on display in the library through January 11. The project depicts children in beautiful art, created by local artists, with hope that the artwork will inspire families to envision themselves as potential adoptive families, forever changing the life of a child.
