Neglia Conservatory of Ballet Honored as
one of "Buffalo's Finest" 2015

If you were to open the January 29th issue of Artvoice and flip to the back of the second page you would see 12 profiles of Buffalo businesses honored as Buffalo's Finest in their field. Chosen for "The Love and Art of Dance" our conservatory is very proud to be apart of the three part profile series. Neglia would also like to thank its dedicated teachers, students and families who make the Conservatory deserving of such accolades.

Neglia Welcomes Two New Board Members

This month we are pleased to announce that Neglia Ballet's Board of Directors voted in two new, highly recommended board members to join the Neglia family.

PATRICK HINES, Associate, Hodgson Russ, LLP- better known as PJ Hines is a Rochester native, and first came to Buffalo as an undergraduate at UB.  After completing law school at Notre Dame, he came back to Buffalo for good.  He is currently an associate with Hodgson Russ, where he focuses on commercial and personal injury litigation.

“I am excited and privileged to be a part of Neglia Ballet.  A vibrant artistic community is one of the things that makes Buffalo a great place to live, and Neglia is at the forefront.  I look forward to working with such a motivated, dedicated, and community-minded group of people.”

Neglia's Executive Director, Heidi Halt Neglia, says "We're excited to have someone with Patrick's expertise join our Board. He comes highly recommended by Hodgson Russ partner and fellow Nichols alumni, Hugh Russ."

Kathleen (Kate) Crosby, Development Associate, University of Buffalo, Health Sciences-  Born and raised in the Rochester area, Kate came to Buffalo to attend UB as an undergrad. After completing her masters in social work, she worked for a year as a social worker. Finding herself missing UB and the work she had done as a student fundraiser, she returned as a philanthropy associate. She works with the UB Schools of Nursing, Social Work, and Public Health and Health Professions to assist with their philanthropic efforts.

"I am so excited to join the Neglia Board. Having danced throughout high school, I have an immense appreciation for ballet. Not only because of the talent and discipline that goes into this beautiful art form, but also because of the effect it can have on the community. Neglia is a shining example of the positive impact that ballet can have on the Buffalo area. I am honored to join such an amazing organization."

Neglia's Board Chair, Brian Pagkos, gladly welcomed Kate stating that she "
brings with her extensive experience in fundraising and capital campaigns. Kate is a Development Officer for the University at Buffalo and has experience as a dancer and performer."

Artistry Runs in the Family

Nicolas Neglia was basically raised in the studio dancing alongside his father, Sergio Neglia and mother, Heidi Halt. It is no surprise that he has grown to acquire a passion and talent for the arts. After dancing at Neglia for 10 years and being cast in theatrical roles like Mini Baba Yaga Nico chose to pursuit an even greater passion, acting! After years of acting in various plays and interning at Delaware's Shakespeare in the Park (see his picture to the left from this past summer), and a renown summer drama program upstate, he has decided to pursuit it full time. After a successful audition at The New School this past month Nico has entered a competition to win a full scholarship for 4 years to the New School of Drama. His dream is to become and actor and you can help! Your views and positive feedback will help his chances!

Check out Nico's New School Drama Scholarship Competition Video!- if you like what you see help him succeed by liking and commenting on his video on Youtube (which you can do with a Youtube account or if you have a Gmail account).

If you do not have a youtube account and would like to comment, this link  will take you to his personal New School page to leave your comment. The quantity and especially the quality of your comments can help him win!
