I hope the holidays served you well with down time for yourself, your family and friends. After all, that is what it's all about - to connect, reboot and find what's calling to us as we move towards a New Year. In doing the same here at Trifecta Wellness, I am asking you for some help.

I have been fine tuning the 11-Day online Clean Eating Detox Program and I'm really excited to share it with you. To introduce the program, I have been working on a preview event, "A Cleaning Eating Detox & FAQ Webinar," and I want to make sure this online event covers all of your burning questions. So tell me, what are some of the biggest questions you have about doing a detox program in the new year?

As we step further into January, consider setting an "intention," rather than a "resolution." By definition:

  • An intention is, "an aim or plan,"
  • A resolution is, "the action of solving a problem, dispute, or contentious matter. Also, a "firm decision to do or not do something."

Personally, I would much rather 'aim' to do better in 1-2 areas of my life rather than the new year unfolding with a long list, in a contentious manner. Yikes! The first intention I have is to be kind to myself. To know that my plan may unfold through several different paths to lead me through 2015 with kindness. Did your 2014 end as expected? Or, did life lead you down a few roads that you never expected?

While some challenging events were planned, I can say that a few major events were abrupt (ex: I moved when I didn't plan to, had an unexpected surgery, moved my dad twice and in November, my dad passed away.)  I don't mention these things to show anything but an example of where I could not have "aimed or planned" ahead in those circumstances. As I look at the events more closely, they actually became resolutions because some sort of an action was indeed needed. In actuality, the outcome of those resolutions lead me to re-direct my intention which led to personal growth.

As we look further at intentions, let's look at where the 11-Day Detox comes in to play.

  • Is your "aim" to eat more greens, less sugar or more veggies?
  • Or are you, " resolved" to lose 10 pounds?
Would it serve our souls in a brighter way to detox by obtaining the tools to make healthier choices and then see how our bodies respond? I highlight this with clients because when I first did a detox, I didn't make a resolutionInstead, I wanted to see how I would feel. My intention was to be healthier, to digest food more effectively and to have more energy. These intentions led me to a healthier and happier way of being because the path was not black and white - there was no way to fail. For me, losing inflammation and less bloating was a beneficial end result of a healthier lifestyle.

The intention I offer to you on the 11-Day detox is to give yourself permission to slow down, to be kind to yourself, to accept yourself as you are today, and to move forward from that place, with grace. When you are kinder to yourself, your choices will automatically benefit your body so it can effectively do its job. Your body naturally tries to detox daily! Starbucks coffee, ice cream, candy bars, sodas, fried foods and gluten-based grains are fake foods that tax your systems. 
Let's be nice to ourselves in 2015 - start from within.
 
How about that for a New Years Intention?

So tell me, what are some of the biggest questions you have about doing a detox program at the new year? For many, the word detox can be scary. During my online event, I am going to explain what it means when you detox gently and naturally by "clean eating" and adding in self-care techniques that are easy to adopt daily using Ayurveda techniques. BUT, I want to make sure I cover your personal questions too.

For example, to detox is simply to clean out the body in a natural way and to improve digestion (fully absorbing nutrients), elimination (poop regularly!) and kick-up your metabolism (clearing out toxins from the lymph, blood, kidneys and liver).
