Adventure Sail to Onehunga

This Sunday 4th Jan, rig 8:30 for 9:30 sail

Due to tides not coinciding with an available weekend we can't sail to Cornwallis this year so we are going to do something different and head up the harbour towards Onehunga.

High tide is at 11am, so we plan to leave at 9:30am to get the most of the tide. We will be aiming for the boat ramp at Ambury Regional Park for a lunch break so bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. The forecast is for 6-7 knots from the North East so should be a fetch up the harbour and an easy reach back.

To avoid any "Team Vestas" incidents there will be a safety briefing by the Commodore at 9:15am for all going afloat. Please contact Paddy at paddymarilize@gmail.com if you intend to join in. We are looking for additional RIB support depending on numbers.

A reminder that the Summer Series kicks off next Sunday 11th. Congratulations to Rob and Dan, Logan and Gavin - respective winners of the FBYC Spring Series in their classes.

Holiday Learn to Sail Courses

Both HLTS courses are now fully booked unless you have your own boat to bring down and join in with. We are taking names for a waiting list and for those interested in doing the Easter holiday programme. The 13-15 Jan and 20-22 Jan courses will be run by Elements with support from FBYC youth coaches.

Newsgroup Growth!

This is our 50th newsletter ... and our mailing list has now reached 200 subscribers! A healthy mailing list correlates to healthy growth and new faces around the club. Keep spreading the word to any families you know who might be keen on joining French Bay Yacht Club at both junior and adult level. FBYC's plan is to double in size and our very reasonable annual fee for membership is about committing to being part of a friendly group of volunteers with common goals who share the load of running the operations of the club.
Membership benefits include RIB support when visiting key away regattas, being part of a friendly and enthusiastic group of recreational watersports users, club support for your personal sailing goals, use of the club's excellent facilities, patrol boat cover for sailing days, a comprehensive range of coaching programmes, free RIB training, affiliation to Yachting New Zealand, free coaching qualification training and access to the club's fleet of Topaz and Optimist dinghies.

Who could you talk to about joining FBYC this summer?

A safe and happy New Year to all!
