Welcome to St Clement’s, a contemporary, Redemptorist retreat and conference centre set on 800 acres in a tranquil, picturesque setting in rural New South Wales, Australia. The Redemptorists are a religious congregation of priests and brothers within the Catholic Church who live in community for the sake of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially among people on the margins of society and church.

Welcome to 2015

Numbers are building for our first retreats of 2015. If you are interested, there is still time to book in.

Three retreats will be presented in February: Restore My Spirit, for singers, instrumentalists and all interested in music for liturgy, led by liturgist Sr Carmel Pilcher and Sr Margaret Cusack (6-8 February), Eat, Pray, Paint, a weekend of fellowship, prayer and sharing for artists led by renowned Canberra iconographer Sue Orchison (13-15 February), and a six-day retreat presented by one of Australia’s foremost biblical scholars Fr Michael Fallon (16-23 February).

St Clement’s Redemptorist Retreat and Conference Centre this year offers a wide range of retreats with themes to help anyone seeking spiritual growth.

We welcome Fr Nixon as new Redemptorist Provincial

Edmond Nixon CSsR

Fr Pat Corbett, whom many know from his time at Galong, has ended his term as Provincial. We thank him for his dedicated service and pray that he will be greatly blessed in his next phase of life.

We welcome Fr Edmond Nixon as Provincial to the newly formed Province of Oceania. We wish him an abundantly fruitful ministry.

Did you know?

The tradition of hospitality to all began at Galong when Irish transportee Edward 'Ned' Ryan settled there in the late 1820s. The Ryans introduced new forms of agricultural practice and these resulted in wealth and success for them and the wider community. Through the will of Ned’s son John Nagle Ryan, the property was passed onto the Redemptorist Congregation who established a monastery and a juvenate named for St Clement Hofbauer (1751-1820), in 1918. From the Rector

Dear Friends
Happy New Year. May 2015 be a year of peace and good health, full of grace and blessings for you and your family and friends. Some of us are still in holiday mode enjoying the beach or, for sports-lovers, the smorgasbord of international cricket, tennis and soccer. I spent four enjoyable days at the cricket Test in Sydney.

Sadly, it has not been a happy start to the year for people in many parts of the world.

Wherever we are, let us do what we can, in solidarity as friends of Galong, to pray for peace and justice, that the Holy Spirit will move the minds and hearts of community leaders, families and people of influence, governments and individuals, to stop the violence, terror, poverty and inhumanity that millions of people suffer.

Pope Francis has reminded us to be people of hope and to live in the joy of the gospel. This year more than ever, let our focus be on our own conversion of mind and heart to live as the Lord calls us. To LISTEN (we hear this word so often in the scriptures) and to LIVE could be a good New Year’s resolution.

We would be delighted to welcome you to Galong if you are able to join us on retreat. Or why not gather 15 or so friends from your parish or wider afield and come and have your own special relaxed time together.

Please be assured of the prayers of the Redemptorist Community at Galong, and the warm welcome of our St Clement’s team led by manager Sue Rolfe.

I commend and thank Geoff Orchison for initiating our St Clement’s Enews, which I hope will help all of us to better share, listen and live this new year.
Blessings,

Fr Bill Goldman CSsR
