Ilifa Toolkit #1 - Procuring Resources for ECD Centres
 
Adequate resources are essential components of quality early childhood development (ECD) environments and programmes. A shared understanding of what these basic levels of resources are will help ensure that all ECD centres are able to provide adequate environments that support all areas of children’s development. Ilifa has partnered with Ntataise to develop a set of guidelines outlining what resources are required to meet the needs of young children, including those with special needs. The Toolkit also outlines requirements for registration of ECD centres.
 
The guidelines and checklists aim to:
 
• provide new ECD centre applicants and registered early childhood providers with clearly defined expectations regarding resources;
• enhance the quality of early childhood development through well-equipped registered facilities; and
• serve as an educational resource for monitoring quality of ECD providers and others.
