Thank you Swedish Press http://www.swedishpress.com who invited SACC-LA and cheers to Volvo Cars that have been sponsoring the LA Art Show for the last two years.

I have met artist Beldina many times in the past years but never seen her perform in the capacity she did at the Eliason Merit Award 2014. I am still very impressed by her huge stage presence, charisma and voice. I am sure we’ll see more from her in LA, Sweden and worldwide. Interview with Swedish singer Beldina

Most of our members and Finally Friday subscribers have probably heard of Beldina thanks to her great performance during the Eliason Merit Award 2014, our Marketing Manager Fia Cristoferson got to know Beldina even more during this interview, and now we share it with all of you!

How was it to perform during the Eliason Merit Award 2014?

It was a great honor, especially since Joel is a close friend of mine it was really inspiring to see him get rewarded and move forward in his career.

What do you think about LA?

Even though I'm not from LA I love this place like its my home. Yes, it can be a Douchebag City but there is something stronger and more beautiful than that.. You must be fearless and determined enough so you don't lose yourself in order to understand the true beauty that lies underneath the surface.

The best thing about LA is also that one is so close to the sky. Like a city in heaven, it really is the city of angels and dreams.

When did you know that you wanted to become a singer?

I actually never knew, I just grew into it. I've always had music around me and my mom put me in a gospel choir at church from when I was 5, then I went to music school straight after that. Besides singing I play the piano and drums but growing up I hated attention so it took me awhile to stand alone as a solo artist.

I still find myself to be pretty shy sometimes but that's why I write music; it's my outlet to communicate.

Tell me about your music - what is it that inspires you?

I'm vey passionate about inner strenght so I'm inspired by life in general, every part of it, the good and the bad. My goal is to be a voice that gives confidence and inspires the ones who doesn't get heard. I love the unexpected, like mixing oil with water to develop something new and I'm not afraid to take risks. I want "Soulectro" the genre of music I'm creating to be universal, honest and raw.

You are about to release four new tracks? Can you tell me about it?

Lyrically, I always draw true stories from my life and moving from Stockholm to Los Angeles inspired me to paint a bigger picture musically so you can get to know me, Beldina. You can hear me express some of those lonely emotions with CP on 1Way. We moved to LA around the same time and could both relate to the struggle so 1way became a natural way to express that pain.

The lead single 'Ocean' is a dark and twisted song but contains a confident message. Leaving everything you know behind can be scary but you shouldn't be afraid to dive into your own destiny. So whatever is out there for me - I am coming to get it.

How can we listen to it?

It will be available on all digital outlets like Spotify, iTunes, Soundcloud etc so it shouldn't be hard to find.

If there is anything you would like to add - please feel free to do so!

Yes, I would like to give a special shout out to the Swedish chamber of commerce, especially Björn Barnekow, for being so innovative and supportive of bringing the Swedish community together. It's nice to know that in the mist of all the glitz and glamour you can still find someone to take a "fika" with.

Thank you so much Beldina and thanks again for your great performance at the Eliason Merit Award 2014 !!

Swedish actress and legend Anita Ekberg
died at 83 this past Sunday

Martin Scorsese On Anita Ekberg And A “Legendary” Moment In Movie History - Video

Anita Ekberg, who died Sunday, emerged from Sweden during the 1950s and eventually made dozens of films. In the link video above Martin Scorsese talks about the single scene from 1960 that made her a legend:

“There are certain movie images that come to stand for more than just the picture itself — they come to define an entire era, and it seems to happen instantaneously: Humphrey Bogart waiting at the bar for Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca, James Dean in his red jacket in Rebel Without A Cause and, of course, Anita Ekberg in the Trevi Fountain in Fellini’s La Dolce Vita. This brief moment conjures up a vast universe that’s gone now — the international ‘jet set’ of the 60s and 70s, the world of international moviemaking, the very special cinematic world of Federico Fellini. He and Marcello Mastroianni and Ekberg made magic together. It was her one great moment in movies, but it was legendary.”

ICA Sweden and Starbucks Signs Licensing Agreement

Starbucks is already opening up coffee shops all around Sweden. It is also newely announced that ICA Sweden and Starbucks teams up and plans to open Starbucks in-store locations at Swedish ICA stores in the near future.

ICA Sweden has signed a licensing agreement with Starbucks Coffee Company to open Starbucks retail stores in the grocery store channel in Sweden. The cafés will be operated by ICA according to the Starbucks licensing concept and under the Starbucks brand.

“By adding new businesses that complement and strengthen ICA’s stores and marketplaces, we can generate growth in our core business, grocery retail. The café sector is growing and this is part of our plan to strengthen our customer offering over time,” says Per Strömberg, CEO of ICA Gruppen.

Initially, the plan is to open three Starbucks retail stores during 2015. These will then be evaluated before a decision is made on the possible establishment of more cafés.

“We are very pleased with our partnership with Starbucks. Just like ICA, Starbucks has a strong brand and a clear focus on quality and ethics and shares the vision of satisfied customers. This is a good example of how we can increase customer benefit and highlight our stores as destinations,” says Anders Svensson, Deputy CEO of ICA Gruppen and CEO of ICA Sweden.
