Theme: Pantone Color of the Year
|
|
Our Creative Team has been playing around with Marsala and have made some gorgeous layouts featuring the Color of the Year. We asked them all to write a little bit about what they thought of the color and where and how it could be used for digital scrapbooking.

I love the warm, rich tone of Pantone’s Color of the Year, Marsala. My first impression of the color was that it was a very formal color and would work well on special occasion or holiday layouts. After playing around with it for a bit, however, I was surprised by what a versatile color it turned out to be, and I realized it could be used on a variety of layout styles. The reddish brown color lends itself to many wonderful color pairings with anything from rich blues and teals to cool grays and pinks. It was a perfect color for this layout of my daughter’s first orchestra concert because it’s the color of her bow tie and cummerbund for her formal orchestra uniform. - Melanie

I absolutely love Marsala, the Pantone Color of the Year. It instills a feeling of calm and serenity in me, creating thoughts of the outdoors and the many shades of this color that can be found in nature. I wanted my layout to reflect these feelings, so I used a photo of one of my favorite flowers. I combined it with papers and embellishments from a variety of kits. In order to bring cohesion to all the different elements, I clipped the same Saturation Adjustment Layer (taken from the Pantone color code for Marsala) to some of them and tweaked them as necessary. Now I have a beautiful layout based entirely on the Marsala color tone. - Anna

Retro. That was my first thought when I saw the Pantone color for 2015: Marsala. For some reason, it made me think of the 1970s. Maybe it’s the way I remember the colors of photos from my childhood. When I found this photo of Ava sitting in the old wooden 7-Up box, I thought it was perfect. I did some fun Blending mode work to allow the rich brown/burgundy color to show through the photo. I love how the color is so nicely contrasted by the yellow, green, and brighter pink shades of this collection, too. Marsala is a great color for a variety of different layouts! - Shannon
