Roots to Transition
The Roots to Transition volunteers would like to thank the kind people of Tavistock who responded to our plea for a water butt to replace the one that had been vandalised at the Rose Walk. You may have seen that Tavistock Lions, with the help of Lawsons, generously donated a new water butt. In addition to this we have had several donations of “preloved” ones so we have been able to solve the water collection problems both at Rose Walk and at the polytunnel where we propagate our seeds and cuttings.
We are very keen to find new volunteers, there are a number of exciting new projects in 2015, so if you can spare a few hours (enthusiasm is the only requirement!) please contact us on 01822 820345 or sue@bushpark.co.uk

Psychology of climate change
The Green Book Club is on Wednesday, 21st January from 6:30-8:00pm in room 402 of the Babbage Building, Plymouth University.
The subject is The Psychology of Climate Change. Paul Cox, former Director of Conservation and Learning at the National Marine Aquarium, is the guest expert.
The book Paul has recommended, Psychology for a Better World:Strategies to Inspire Sustainability, is downloadable for free. It is to be found at http://bit.ly/1wmEpPb
Watch a 15 minute film (with animations) of the main ideas in the book.
Psychology for a Better World is for people who believe it is worth trying to make a world in which both our species and the ecological systems we are part of can flourish. The book is based on the latest research in psychology and is jam packed with action strategies. It offers new ways to think about how people interact in social settings, why we are tempted to stick with what we know, and how the same characteristics that currently keep us hooked into unsustainable practices can be used to move us forward. The final chapter is a guide to help you analyse what you are doing to contribute towards a better world, and how you can be more effective while simultaneously increasing your personal wellbeing.

Waste Innovation Fund - A reminder
It’s the second year for this great new fund.
The aim is to inspire and generate innovative or new waste reduction, reuse and recycling initiatives which divert household waste from treatment or disposal by Devon authorities. This £4,000 fund has been designed to stimulate innovation and creativity for Devon wide initiatives and aims to seed and support schemes at community level leading to reduced waste, improved recycling performance or greater participation and awareness of the 3Rs (reduce, reuse and recycle).
Please share this link with any contacts that may be interested and follow this link; http://www.recycledevon.org/content/innovation-fund. Applications for the fund must be received by 6th March 2015.

Celebrating local food and getting growing – TT AGM
Make a note in your diaries ... we're planning a great celebration of local food and getting growing on Sat. 14th March 2015. We're putting the event team and the programme together at the moment.
- Can you help?
- Can you contribute?
- Would you like to be part of the programme?
- What would you like to see at the event?
Our initial ideas include:
- Urban foraging - what can you find to forage in Tavistock in the middle of March?
- Planning to grow your own in 2015 - share ideas on how to get growing - and join a short workshop
- Growing with the whole family - getting everyone involved ... even in a small space
- Roots to Transition growing plans for 2015
The event will include a short Transition Tavistock AGM where you can learn more about our achievements and plans.
