Just A Heads Up...
CHMS vs. HMS Basketball Games Tuesday
Show your Eagle Spirit and support our CHMS boys as they compete against HMS at Hinsdale Central High School on Tuesday, January 13th.
The 7th grade game begins at 6pm; the 8th grade game begins at 7pm.
PTO Meeting Wednesday with a Terrific Speaker
Don’t miss the PTO meeting this Wednesday, January 14th at 9am in the CHMS MRC. The Downers Grove Township will give parents some terrific tips as they talk about “Life Skills, Esteem & Handling Stress.” As always, we will have coffee, water and a light breakfast for you to enjoy. Please join us!
Orchestra & Vocal Recitals Wednesday
Singers from the 7th and 8th grade boy’s chorus classes and string players from the 6th and 7th grade orchestra will perform as soloists or in small groups at a recital on January 14th from 3:00-3:30pm. Performances will take place in rooms #322 and #324. Parents are invited to attend!
Eighth Grade Parent Night at HCHS Wednesday
Hinsdale Central High School will host the 8th Grade Family Curriculum Night on January 14th in the HCHS Gymnasium. The times are as follows:
6:00-7:00 PM Last Names A-L
7:00-8:00 PM Last Names M-Z
This informational night will prepare you for your registration appointment. You and your student will hear about the core curriculum and many elective options that are available. You will then be able to visit an “Electives Fair” giving you both the opportunity to ask questions and meet students who have taken the many different elective courses.
Map Testing
All students will take a reading and a math MAP test. Tests will be completed during the Language Arts block.
7th grade students test on January 12th and 13th
8th grade students test on January 14th and 15th
6th grade students test on January 22nd and 23rd
If a student is absent and cannot take his/her test on the scheduled day, or if he/she is not able to finish his/her test during the allotted time period, he/she will receive a make-up notification slip from his/her advisor with the date, time, and location for his/her make-up session. Parents 'Right-to-Know' Letter
Each year, schools receiving Title 1 funding send out a letter to parents letting them know that the school has received funding. The letter also guarantees that all teachers in the school meet "highly qualified" standards. If you are interested in reading the letter, please click the link below.
Second Quarter Ends Friday
Don’t forget the 2nd quarter of the school year ends on January 16th. This is a great time for your student to clear out old papers/assignments from his/her folders and maybe even clean out the locker.
