Letter from the Director
Scholarships for Lawrence County Graduating Students
|
|
Chamber Members,
Your Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is very happy to give two $500.00 scholarships to both Lawrenceville High School and Red Hill High School graduating seniors.
Last year’s recipients of the Chamber’s scholarships were Hannah ‘Delaney’ Holden and Tanna Gillespie from Lawrenceville and Madalyn Hammel and Tyler Tewell from Red Hill.
The Chamber’s scholarship applications are now available at each school’s guidance office. Please encourage any and all Lawrence County high school seniors to fill out not only the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce’s scholarship but as many scholarships as possible. Talk with your school’s guidance office and see what other businesses and organizations in the area offer scholarships. Call the Chamber Office (618) 943-3516 with any questions.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
Would you like fresh, locally grown fruits and
vegetables this upcoming season?
Melon Acres has just released the
sign-up form for the 2015 CSA Program!
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Over the last 20 years, CSA programs have become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a local farmer. Here at Melon Acres, we are offering 1200 shares for the 2015 season. A 'share' consists of a bag of fresh fruits and vegetables that you will receive on a weekly basis throughout our 18 week farming season. Also included in your bag will be other farm products, occasional meats, recipe cards, newsletters, and as a 'share' participant, there will be an end-of-the-year celebration for you to attend!
You can choose to participate the entire time, some of the time, or stop and start it whenever you want (we just ask for an advanced notice). You can purchase a full share (enough for 3+ people) or a half share (enough for 2-3 people). You can also choose to buy more of something if you wanted to can or freeze your produce. Shareholders can customize their share to include fruits and vegetables of your choice, meaning if you don’t like asparagus or green beans those options can be replaced with another delicious selection. As all produce is freshly harvested, you’ll receive only what’s in-season and ready to eat. Variety and volume of produce are dependent on weather and may vary from week to week.
Here is a current listing of our 2015 pick up sites:
Vincennes at Washington Christian Center (WCC)
Lawrenceville at Parkside Elementary School
Bicknell at Dr. Kirkwood's Office
Monroe City at Blue Jean Center
Oaktown at Melon Acres
Sullivan at Dodd's Sawmill
Linton at the City Park
There will also be pick ups for employees (only) who work at these locations:
Good Samaritan Hospital
Sullivan Hospital
Terre Haute Union
Clinton Union
Duke Energy (Edwardsport)
We will be adding new spots as they are confirmed on Facebook and our website.
We hope to see you this year!
