The NAIL-ing List: Neil Alexander's News & Happenings
January 2015: The New Year is upon us! ...well, that's old news at this point. but in my first newsletter of 2015, I wanted to actually give you some news. So here goes...
The Holidays are behind us, and with the new year comes a chance to reflect, new plans and the desire to go forth with renewed vigor. I've got a lot of things cooking for this coming year, so let me tell you about some of them.
Thunderhead Organ Trio
Firstly - the THUNDERHEAD Organ Triowill be appearing at the Wherehouse on the 3rd Thursday of every month - for the entire year. The 3 shows we did there last year were very well received, and Dan (the owner) agreed to take a bit of a chance on us. Having a steady local gig (anywhere, but especially in Newburgh) is inspiring, and we've been hard at work in the rehearsal studio working out some new material including stuff by King Crimson and The Meters. There's never a cover, so please come out and enjoy their awesome beer selection & great menu. Thanks Dan!
Wired Wednesdays
Next up - the Newburgh Free Library has agreed to continue my monthlyElectronic Music Meetup. It's now on the 2nd Wednesday of every month and is appropriately titled "Wired Wednesdays". The series starts next month on February 11th. I'll be bringing in even more hands-on tech, presentations and special guests. As always, this series is free to the community at large.
Another monthly event is the Open Mic night at Dogwood in Beacon NY, hosted by the amazing Decora and featuring members of his group, DJ H2O, drummer J-Why and myself. This takes place on the first Tuesday of every month, and the next one is February 3rd. (More info about this in next month's newsletter).
Other events in the works are a birthday concert with Piktor's Metamorphosis, the return of my annual Solstice Concert & Canned Food Drive, and a special Joe Zawinul Birthday Tribute at the Falcon in Marlboro featuring Mr. Gone and many special guests.
Speaking of Mr Gone, our first show this year is at Trumpets in Montclair NJ on Feb. 5th. As always, all the current dates and info can be found on the Nailmusic.comCalendar page. The site itself is constantly being updated with photos and other info.
On the recording front, I'm planning on 3 significant releases this year, including a live NAIL show recorded at the Blue Note in NYC in 2007 and my live on-air radio performance from last September. I've already posted an ongoing remix project called "Lawson Remixed", based on the works of solo bassist Steve Lawson.
And for all you Facebook crawlers out there (we all do it, myself included) there are Facebook Pages to like for all the various projects:
So for now, I leave you with the one show this month, and thank you kindly & profusely for your ongoing support. ALL THE BEST FOR 2015!

Thunderhead Organ Trio
The Wherehouse Restaurant
119 Liberty St Newburgh NY
The ThunderHead Organ Trio continues their monthly residence at the Wherehouse in Newburgh on third thursday of every month for the entire year! Our first show is January 15th. We've been having a blast, and audience response has been super positive. The end result is that we're psyched and each show gets wilder & wilder...! We continue to add new original material and stretch out with killer long jamz. :) The group features Joe Gil (trombone), Jason Furman (drums/sampler) and yours truly on keyboards. No Cover, massive beer selection and the food is awesome. :) 8:00 pm!
