Join Us in Haiti!
Early Saturday morning, the Haiti Six will be leaving for a week of work, learning and reflection (oh, and yes, warm weather!). You may not be boarding our plane, but you can join us from the comfort of your home or nearest computer. Another traveler, Laura, of the Columbia congregation, created this blog where our group will be posting throughout the week.
Please follow along on our adventure. We look forward to sharing our experiences live when we return.

Choir Notice
The Choir will be singing at Valeri McNeal's Memorial Service on Saturday, January 17th.
We will rehearse at 1 p.m.. Please be prompt. Music is on the pew by the piano (if you don't already have it).

The Church is hosting a reception following Valeri's memorial service on Saturday, January 17th. If you're planning to come and are able, please consider preparing and bringing finger food (fruit, vegetables, small sandwiches, cookies, etc.). OUR DAILY BREAD
January 31,2015, starting at 8:30 a.m. It may be cold and the depth of Winter, but we'll gather to prepare our usual casseroles for the guests of Our Daily Bread. Do you know that our casseroles (350 servings) are sufficient for about half the guests present for the meal? The Towson U.U. Church provides the rest of the casseroles. and other Churches and agencies provide the rest of the meals. Great news: we are next scheduled to cook in May, when we just might have to use fans to keep the cooks cool! Please let me know if you can help.

Calling Crafters!
Learn to knit or crochet scarves, hats, shamrocks and other items at the February 6 Bookstore Cafe from 6-9 p.m. in Pratt Hall. Join in one of the first regularly planned Friday night gathering at First Unitarian. On this February 6 craft night we'll make items to sell outside the church during the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Last March we raised nearly $1,000 for the church by selling green hand-knit scarves, pins and baked goods. No need to sign up. Just come with your yarn and needles.

Our Change for Change partner for January & February
Our Change for Change partner during January & February is Art With a Heart, a Baltimore City nonprofit organization enhancing the lives of people in need through visual art.
Since 2000, Art With a Heart has brought 10,000 visual arts classes to abused, neglected and abandoned children; battered women and their children; mentally and physically disabled adults; youth in after-school programs and children receiving long-term health care.
More information is available at the Social Action Clearinghouse table during coffee hour.

Here's how to submit your items to Happenings, the church calendar and Sunday announcements. Any special formatting will be changed to fit the current format standards in place.
1. CALENDAR ONLY: Click here to complete the online form. (Allow 48 hours for your event to be approved and added to the calendar.)
2. HAPPENINGS AND VOICES FROM THE COMMUNITY: Submit your announcements by emailingoffice@firstunitarian.net, by noon each Tuesday.
3. SUNDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS ONLY: For announcements that you want in the Sunday Order of Service, please email office@firstunitarian.net by 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
