A reminder to all Team chairpersons and group leaders, please e-mail your year-end report to the office no later than January 15.  This is an important summary of God's work here at Living Springs throughout the past year - for both historical records and to share with those who may be interested in Living Springs membership.   Thank you for your awesome leadership!

Debt Reduction & Maintenance

You may notice this new line on your weekly offering envelopes!  Our goal for this year is to raise $21,500 for this effort, IN ADDITION TO our regular weekly offerings.   If everyone just contributed an EXTRA $5 or $10 per week to this effort, we could easily reach the goal and replenish our capital/maintenance funds that have been depleted over the past few years.   Please prayerfully consider this opportunity.

“ALWAYS BEING MADE NEW”
BUCKET EMPHASIS

Starting in 2015, congregations of our Evangelical Lutheran Church in America are joining together in a churchwide emphasis to provide funding for important ministries that we share together.   One goal is to raise $22 million for Global Missionaries and our Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM).  During the Epiphany season, our bucket offering will go toward this purpose.   Special offering envelopes will be available in the narthex for those who wish to make additional contributions.

1045am Nursery Volunteers needed!

Has God been tugging at your heart to serve God's children?  We have lots of little ones joining us during at the 1045am worship service and we need one adult per Sunday to help staff our nursery.  You don't need to have any special skills except the desire to care and love for God's children.  We also are grateful that one of our Preschool Teachers (First Aid/CPR trained) also serves in the Nursery, so there will be 2 total adults in there. Please contact Lexanne at Lexanne@LivingSpringsColumbia.org if you are willing to serve God in this way.
Our altar flower florist, Pampered Plants, has closed. We are working on finding a new florist. Our current one that we are testing is A Florist and More in Elgin, 788-3827. Until we establish what florist we are using, if you are ordering altar flowers, please have them delivered by Friday, 4:30pm so we can let them in the sanctuary. There is a list in the office as well for other recommended florists by Pampered Plants. The 2015 Flower Chart is out in the narthex or sign up here

Lessons for Sunday, January 18

First Reading: 1 Samuel 3:1–20

At a time when visions are rare and unexpected, the Lord comes to Samuel and calls him to speak the divine word. Though just a boy, Samuel responds to God obediently, as Eli the priest has taught him to respond. This marks the beginning of Samuel's prophetic ministry.

Psalm (ELW): Psalm 139:1–6, 13–18

You have searched me out and known me. (Ps. 139:1)

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:12–20

Paul is helping the Corinthians understand that God has claimed the entirety of their lives through the death of Christ. Hence Christian relationships and conduct, including areas of human sexuality, are to reflect the reality that we belong to Christ and that the Holy Spirit lives within us.

Gospel: John 1:43–51

In John's gospel, Jesus' ministry begins with the call of disciples, who then bring others to Jesus. Philip's friend Nathanael moves from skepticism to faith when he accepts the invitation to "Come and see."
