Progress at the Flaxmill Maltings

Work on the demolition of the South silo is progressing well, and will be finished by the end of January. Work will then begin immediately on the renovation and restoration of the Office and Stables, which will form a visitor centre for the Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings. This will include interpretation of the site and it's uses, a meeting/learning space, research areas for the use of volunteers and the Friends' office. We expect this to be ready for use by late autumn of 2015.

University Links

Staff and students at University Centre Shrewsbury will be embracing opportunities to work with the Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings, as part of its links with community and heritage groups across Shropshire.

The University Centre team is looking at how the institution can create the most benefits possible for the county, including developing projects and research that contributes to the preservation and restoration of the historic environment.

Courses include a BA History and MSc History of Science, and potentially MScs in Museums Practice and Sustainable Heritage Practice.
