Helping one of our own

You may remember Corey Schreppel, the Wits Technical Director, from such meetups as our November 2014 meetup. Corey's father, George, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) last summer. Some major modifications must be made to the home he shares with his wife Tammy and daughter Brittany. In order to accomplish this they are asking for help via Go Fund Me. You can read the full story and donate to the campaign here: http://www.gofundme.com/georgeschreppel. We wish George, Tammy, Corey, and Brittany all the best.

2015 International Music+Sound Awards

The 2015 International Music+Sound Awards is accepting submissions for consideration, now through March 27, 2015.

From the website:
"We are proud to be the first ever global awards programme dedicated to music and sound for the creative media industries.

Launched on 1st October 2011 in the UK, the Music+Sound Awards is now a global organisation that recognises and celebrates the indispensable role that music and sound design play in the world of visual media. We welcome all production partners to enter their work and put themselves on the worldwide stage through our Awards programme.

Music+Sound International has been set up to establish the criteria and standard for international excellence in music and sound for visual media and to shine a light on those who create, source and commission it. We encourage everybody involved in a production to come together and celebrate the art and talent involved in what is an essential part of any commercial, film, video game or TV show."

Audio Society of Minnesota

The Audio Society of Minnesota is a non-commercial hobby organization incorporated in 1979. They present monthly meetings from September to May/June of each year, and publish a monthly ASM Bulletin during that time.

They support all audiophile interests. They have tube freaks and solid-state freaks, people who only listen to digital and people who would be happy if digital had never been invented, folks who have never seen an LP in their lives and others who have thousands, members who think nothing of making major expenditures for audio gear and others who are interested in the best bang for their buck, some with advanced degrees in engineering and some who don't know an Ohm from a Watt, those who think of their hobby as a science and those who think of it as an art. But they all have one thing in common: They love music and they love to hear it accurately and emotionally recreated in their homes.

Meetings are held at the Pavek Museum of Broadcasting:
3517 Raleigh Avenue
St. Louis Park, MN 55416
