City Encourages Residents to Recycle E-Waste

Jan. 27 – This February, the City of Griffin encourages residents and businesses to recycle their old electronic devices.  Old, malfunctioning, and nonfunctioning devices including TVs, VCRs, copiers, cell phones, rechargeable batteries, printers, fax machines, etc. can be dropped off at the transfer station at 1515 Industrial Drive free of charge.

“If you can’t sell an old device that you’re replacing, it will often just collect dust or go in the trash,” said Central Services Director Phil Francis.  “We just want to remind people that there is another option.  Instead of sending it to the dump or creating clutter, recycle it with us.”

In addition to E-Waste, city residents can always drop off excess trash and large items such as couches or mattresses free of charge at the Transfer Station; however, they must present a copy of their utility bill and a photo ID.  The transfer station is open Monday through Friday between the hours of 7AM and 6PM.
