Thanks for supporting Furry Friday

Thanks to all of the volunteers and foster homes who participated in Furry Friday adoption events at the Northgate Mall in 2014. Regina Cat Rescue is grateful to event sponsor Imagination Ink for the monthly opportunity to showcase some of RCR’s most eligible kitties. Unfortunately, RCR is unable to continue with the events in 2015. As a strictly volunteer-run organization, the challenges in filling cages and staffing the weekday event proved to be too great. You can still see RCR cats available for adoption on the Furry Friday billboard every two weeks at Imagination Ink’s office (1801 Turvey Road). As well, beginning this month, Furry Friday billboards can be seen on digital billboards on Albert Street North (near 6th Ave) and on Quance Street on Thursday evenings and Fridays. Thanks to IKS Media & Technology for this wonderful opportunity!

Metro Pet Market spaying it forward

Thank you to Metro Pet Market for helping Regina Cat Rescue by Spaying It Forward! This month, Metro has paid for Harriette's spay as part of their on-going mission to foster responsible pet ownership. Harriette came into RCR care after she was found in rough shape living on the streets at Regina Beach. She had serious wounds from being attacked by other cats and was in need of vet care. Harriette was timid and shy at first, but now she’s healing, coming out of her shell and doing great. She’ll be listed for adoption soon! For more on Metro Pet Market, visit metropetmarket.ca.

Volunteers earn corporate support

A big tip of the hat to five volunteers who recently earned funds for Regina Cat Rescue through their workplace employee giving programs. For her volunteerism, Connie Yasinowski earned a $1,000 donation for RCR from her employer, Canada Life. Stephanie Streifel received the RBC Canada Community Leadership Award and a $1,000 donation for RCR. Alanna Whippler received a SaskPower Volunteer Award and earned a $500 donation for RCR. Kim Belhumeur received $500 through Farm Credit Canada’s Employee Volunteer Program. Dani Furkert-Aubichon earned $250 for RCR through SaskGaming’s Dollars-for-Dogooders program for donating her time to RCR. Donations like these go a long way to help RCR provide care for abandoned cats and kittens in need. Consider seeing if your workplace has an employee giving program that you can participate in to support RCR. Thanks to Canada Life, RBC Canada, SaskPower, FCC and SaskGaming for supporting their employees' volunteer efforts!

Call for interest - co-chair, Fundraising and Membership

Looking to enhance your leadership skills in a meaningful and rewarding way? RCR is seeking a co-chair for our Fundraising and Membership Committee. Ideal candidates should be enthusiastic about brainstorming and co-ordinating fundraising efforts for the organization. Even if you don’t consider yourself a fundraising superstar, the knowledge and practice you’ll gain in this role will convince you otherwise. Review the volunteer profile and email us.

Renew your membership for 2015

RCR relies on member support to continue to provide care for Regina’s abandoned cats and kittens. Memberships expire December 31 of each year (unless you purchase a lifetime membership). If your contact information hasn’t changed, you don’t need to submit the membership form with your payment ($25 per year or $500 for lifetime membership). Simply pay online via PayPal (enter Membership Renewal in the How May We Direct Your Donation? Field) or mail us a cheque (indicate Membership in the note line). New members will need to submit the RCR membership application with payment. Members will have voting privileges at the 2015 Annual General Meeting in April.

Adoption gift from Metro and Wysong

Thanks to Metro Pet Market and Wysong for providing special gifts to everyone who adopts through Regina Cat Rescue. Beginning this month, RCR will mail all new adopters a voucher in the amount of $25. Take the voucher with the adoption contract to Metro for redemption. Thank you Metro and Wysong for helping to get RCR kitties off on the right foot in their forever homes!
