Arts Access featured in the INDY Week

Arts Access' efforts to make the arts accessible were highlighted by INDY Week writer Brian Howe after he attended the IDEA summit on January 12. Click the link below to read the full article, but here is an excerpt from Howe's writing:

"The Triangle's arts scene is in a pivotal moment, receiving new national attention, new money, and new organizations and venues as existing ones transform. In this malleable time, it's crucial to consider who is being invited along for the ride and who might be left behind. Happily, at the Idea Summit, Arts Access and area institutions were doing just that."

Doug Kapp, Actor

Doug Kapp was already active in Raleigh's theatre community before he decided to earn a degree in theatre from UNCG in 2010. While Doug has always been legally blind his vision loss was only peripheral until he experienced a downturn with his sight in 2011. Doug's limited sight made it hard to convince others to cast him for productions, even though he is an experienced and talented actor. Doug says it is all about finding the perfect part which he recently found in Raleigh Little Theatre's "Much Ado About Nothing".

Doug is playing Dogberry, the chief of the citizen-police who has an assistant with him at all times, in the upcoming production. Doug says that his experience at RLT has been nothing but positive and the other cast members, crew and RLT staff have been super accommodating.
