Chili Luncheon!  Please plan to join us on Sunday, February 8, immediately following worship, for a chili luncheon. We encourage you to bring your favorite chili or soup to share.  Families, please bring soup/chili as well as a side dish or dessert. Singles need only to bring one dish of their choosing. When you arrive, you can bring your food to the kitchen and volunteers will place it in the refrigerator or the food warmer, if necessary. Crock pots are also welcome. And, even if you are unable to bring food, we’d love for you to join us -- there will be plenty to go around!

Intro to Wallace Class
For those interested in becoming a member of Wallace, or if you are just interested in knowing more about our ministry, here is your opportunity.  The next Intro to Wallace Class is Saturday, February 7, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The pastors will be available for you to get to know them better, and lunch will be served.  Please notify Karen in the church office at frank@wallacepca.org if you would like to attend so she can plan for the lunch.  For questions about the class, please see or contact Stephen Coleman at coleman@wallacepca.org.
Online Classifieds – Want to invite other Wallace folks to a cultural event or find one? Looking for a new housemate? Thinking about unloading those never-used bikes in your garage?  Know of an interesting volunteer opportunity or job lead?  Wallace has a Classifieds section on our web page for you!  Go to http://www.wallacepca.org/resources/classifieds/ to help us put more info on these pages and to perhaps find just the thing you need.  Please send your Classified ads to Karen Frank at frank@wallacepca.org.  The staff will review it for appropriateness and post it if we deem it useful to our congregation.  Enjoy!
Wallace Ministries

Prayer Meeting
Please join us for our weekly prayer meeting each Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. in Scott Bridges' office. All are welcome.

Home Groups
The Home Group ministry is a very important part of the life of Wallace, fostering fellowship and growth in grace. This ministry has life cycles in our church calendar. We are currently in the winter session which runs from January 11-March 8. Please contact Stephen Coleman at coleman@wallacepca.org if you are interested in joining a group.

The Brockman's Home Group currently meets immediately after worship upstairs in the room above the kitchen to share a pot luck meal prior to the study time.  Any folks are welcome to join, especially if it is difficult for you to return to a Home Group on Sunday evenings.  There is no need to RSVP; just come upstairs after worship.

GriefShare
Griefshare meets Wednesday nights from 7:00-9:00 in Stephen Coleman's office. You can begin attending GriefShare at any point in the 13-week cycle. It is a good idea to notify Nancy Keegan if you are thinking of coming, especially on a week when we might need to contact participants about a change in plans due to the weather. Please check the Wallace Website under Events if you want more information.

Theology Breakfast
The Theology Breakfast meets each Wednesday from 7:00-8:00 a.m. A light breakfast is served. The current book being discussed is "God Is Impassible and Impassioned" by Rob Lister. This group is led by David Miner.

DevoLit: Dinner and Discussion
Join us every first and third Wednesday in the parlor at 7 p.m. for good food and great discussion of Thomas a Kempis’ classic 15th-century work, "The Imitation of Christ." For two thousand years, men and women have written about their love for Jesus.  Their texts still offer Biblical insights and spiritual encouragement to us today.   In DevoLit, we read these “old books” for the chance to meet some of our future neighbors in the life everlasting and to be encouraged by the responses to the common struggles of Christian life.

West Side Women's Bible Study
The West Side Bible study group will meet again at 10 a.,m. on Tuesday, February 10, at the home of Alison Beatty, 9500 Riley Rd., Silver Spring.  Suzanne Morrison will lead a discussion of Joshua, chapter 10.  All women are welcome.
Rev. Stephen Coleman is currently on Study Leave and will return to the office on Wednesday, February 4.  If you would like to schedule an appointment with him for some time after he returns, please talk to someone in the Church Office.

Music of the Month: Hymn – "Come, We that Love the Lord (We’re Marching to Zion);" Praise Song – "We Are Marching in the Light of God (Siyahama)."

Bible Memory Challenge
The children received a new challenge on Sunday—1 Peter 1:3-9. The music for the verses is on the Christmas CD, tracks 5 and 6. The challenge for February is to keep marching through the passage and learn verses 4-6. Watch our progress on the bulletin board in the nursery module.

Thank You
Thanks to Eileen and Stan Dowd for stepping in to lead the children in learning hymns, praise songs, and our Bible Memory Challenge music when Mrs. Brockman is absent.

Junior Camp

Junior Camp is coming! Mark your calendar for June 23 - 27. If you have a child who will be entering 4th, 5th or 6th grade in the Fall, make plans now. It is a week of fun and learning that has been a Wallace tradition for generations. Our camp storyteller this year will be Rob Maeder, Wallace's former youth director who is now pastoring in New Jersey..

If you are interested in volunteering for Junior Camp, please contact Annie Welty or Marci Martin for more information. There are many terrific ways you can be a part of the fun.
