Progress update
The majority of the preparation work has now been completed, the external wall has been demolished and the new steelwork is being installed which will create the new extension. The retaining wall for the new entrance has been constructed which can be seen from Jerry Croft giving an idea of what the ramped entrance will look like. Inside a small corridor to the commercial unit has been created, the first floor office space has been opened up, electrics have been stripped back and the plant room has been prepared for the new boiler to be installed.
Town Hall Open Spring 2015
The project is currently running at a two week delay due to unforeseen circumstances, additional asbestos was found in the existing toilet block that required specialist equipment bringing in. The asbestos needed to be removed before any other work could be completed due to the sequential nature of the project which therefore caused a delay in the works. The delay is also due to finding unsuitable substructure for the temporary propping to bear down onto, therefore design and installation of additional foundations were required to allow safe installation of the temporary propping to hold the structure of the building until new steelwork was installed.
