We like to keep Engine Shed tenants, Business Lounge members and DigiCity users in the loop about what's going on the building and inform you of the opportunities you have to network and attend events and there is plenty happening already in 2015!

If you'd like anything promoting in the next newsletter, please let us know before 23 February by emailing info@engine-shed.co.uk
Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, took part in a whistle-stop tour of some of Bristol’s innovative and growing businesses yesterday, 29 January, when he visited Engine Shed to announce a further £18.1m funding through the Growth Deal for the West of England LEP.

The announcement included announcing funding for a significant expansion of Engine Shed, as well as two other key projects in the West of England. Initial plans for Engine Shed 2 could triple the amount of incubation and grow-on space currently available for high-tech, social, creative and digital businesses, in the Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone.

6 February - Digital Bristol Week Business Day at Engine Shed. We are expecting over 100 people at one time throughout the building in the talks held in The Junction and the Business Lounge and it is likely to be a very interesting but busy day - please bear with us in the cafe! All of the talks are fully booked now but have a waiting list if you would like to register your interest.
Grass Roots Carnival: An Afrikan Caribbean Journey will be open from Monday 2 February

A Charity dedicated to educating and extending the appreciation of Afrikan Caribbean arts and culture, St Pauls Afrikan Caribbean Carnival (St Pauls Carnival) launches its 2015 programme in partnership with TSTM: Bristol (Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Memorial) at Engine Shed. TSTM: Bristol  is a pioneering and forward thinking architectural installation proposed for Severn Beach by architects M_A/D. On one hand the exhibition will feature film,  costume, archive images and information about the St Pauls Afrikan Caribbean Carnival (now in its 47th year) and on the other hand it will be a consultative presentation of the memorial.  School and group tours of the exhibition as well as to Severn Beach will be available on request. The business launch takes place here 2nd February 6 -9 pm  and you are all welcome. Please RSVP to cleo@stpaulscarnival.co.uk

The exhibition will run until 27 March 2015.
New Engine Shed tenants

Bristol and Bath x Design
We are pleased to have welcomed Bristol and Bath x Design to Engine Shed earlier this month in the offices downstairs. A project funded by the Design Council and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC),  Bristol & Bath by Design brings together UWE Bristol, Bath Spa University and Bristol University along with regional partners West of England Design Forum, Bristol Media, Creative Bath, the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the REACT Knowledge Exchange Hub. They will be working closely with companies, organisations and individuals to visualise the influence and impact of design in the city region through surveys, in-depth interviews, focus groups and events – and sharing news about the project as it evolves. For further information, contact jess.hoare@uwe.ac.uk

QA
With Just Eat expanding and moving to new premises early next month, our new tenants in the Arrivals Lounge will be QA, who will be turning the space into a technical training room for the next 12 months. QA will be working closely with us on initiatives such as Developer Apprenticeships, Technical Short Courses, Seminars and a Web Developer Boot Camp for career changers. We believe this is an exciting new partnership to develop the local skills and talent needed to help you grow your businesses.

If you want to get in touch with QA before they move in, you can email ben.sweetman@qa.com

Tenants and Business Lounge members' guides to booking rooms, including your exclusive room hire rates, are available from the Venue Manager.
