February General Meeting
Monday, February 9, 7:30PM
Our February General Meeting will be held next Monday, February 9th at the museum starting at 7:30PM. We have an outstanding speaker—Mark Hylkema. Mark has more than 34 years experience teaching California archaeology and Native American culture.
The topic of the evening will be Excavating the Castroville Mammoths. In 2011, Ice Age fossils were discovered in a Castroville artichoke field. Archeologists from around the world have been working on the dig which Mark has been directing, and they have found bones, teeth, and even Mammoth hair!
Mark has directed excavations throughout the greater San Francisco and Monterey Bay areas and teaches Anthropology at Foothill College. Come prepared to be entertained by Mark Hylkema as he relates stories and shows photos of the local excavation of fossils and much more.
It will be an interesting evening. Admission is FREE, and refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there!
