Community Update
January 2015
Dear Neighbours,
Gilmore Park News
Neighbours be on Alert
The following messages were received about unwanted activity in the Gilmore Park area.
MESSAGE FROM NEIGHBOUR SHERIE (January 30, 2015): Just wanted to put it out there we are at 6 Gale Ave and we have had our House egged the last two nights in a row. It's a complete mess and so upsetting. We have spoken to the police and they are going to be patrolling the area. Hope no one else is dealing with this but if we can watch out for anything suspicious or people just lurking around maybe we can put a stop to it. We have also learned that the house across from us had their truck egged last week.
RE-POST FROM SHERWOOD PARK MOMS FACEBOOK GROUP (January 8, 2015): Just a heads up. Around 5:45 am this morning my husband was driving near Nitza's pizza in Glen Allen. He noticed a man standing in a driveway looking at the house and when my husband turned the corner, the man quickly turned around and walked away. My husband pulled up and asked if he was lost and he said no and that he was out for a walk. To which my husband replied along the lines of "looked like you were scoping that house out." He said no. My husband asked if he lived there and he said no, and didn't have much to say when my husband asked why he would be there then. My husband told him it would be in his best interest to just keep on walking and that if ever sees him in the neighborhood again, he'll make it his problem. He put his head down and kept on walking while my husband sat and watched him for the next five minutes until he was out of sight. Reported to the RCMP, and my husband will be going to the house to let them know what he saw. Description: white male, 5'8, approx 185 lbs, black hoodie and scared as hell. Please be a good neighbour and keep our neighbourhoods safe. Best not to approach though and just call RCMP.
If you see any suspicious activity please call the RCMP complaint line at (780) 449-0170. These messages were posted on the Gilmore Park Facebook page, to receive more frequent updates join our group by following this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/221121464580893/
Caroling in the Neighbourhood
Thank you to Councillor Dave Anderson & Family and to all the neighbours who joined us on December 19 to go door-to-door and sing Christmas carols. Thank you also to everyone who open their doors to greet us and in some cases join us. We hope to continue this tradition in 2015, it truly was a great way to celebrate the season!

Honduras Playground Update
We are happy to report that our previous Gilmore Park playground equipment along with the Jean Vanier School structure has been re-painted! When a group of Gilmore Park neighbours went to Roatan, Honduras for the build last spring we left behind paint for the local community members to complete the job.
Local and International members of Rotary, including our own Chris Greidanus, are continuing to work with the community in Santa Helene to support clean water and education projects.

Sincerely,
Gilmore Park Community League
