February 2015

Hello Friends,

We are off and running into 2015... with so many wonderful new programs and budding partnerships, I hardly know where to begin!

First off, the fantastic MEarth Board of Directors had their first board retreat of 2015. With so many new and enthusiastic members, the day was highly educational and inspiring for this committed group of community members.

I hope you will all join me in thanking Mark Shelley, Nicole Sauliner, Kimbery Briggs, Chris Ford, Charles Franklin, Jenn Gerard, Shelby Lambert, Lewis Leader, Andrea Lewis, Bernard Trainor and Sarah Yee for their extraordinary dedication to our organization!

This week also marks the completion of the first module for the G.R.O.W. (Gardens Rock Our World) Program, a FoodConnect series that we have specifically created for kids from the Boys & Girls Club of Monterey County, located in Seaside. After many years of successful partnership, we are especially excited about this particular program which is designed to inspire healthy food choices and ecologically responsible behavior changes through field trips and hands-on activities in our gardens and kitchens. After developing new skills at MEarth, participants are encouraged to work in their newly revamped garden at the Clubhouse and share healthy and replicable recipes with their families and friends. Big thanks to the Monterey Peninsula Foundation for making this program possible!

Looking ahead, I am thrilled to announce that we are bringing back our Sustainable Chef Dinner Series in our gorgeous LEED-certified cooking classroom with our dear friend Chef James Anderson of Affina on February 23rd. Click on the button to the right to learn more and secure your seat today. These have been known to sell out in less than a week!

Finally, it's hard to believe, but we are already starting to plan our 2015 Summer Camp. There will be "Early Bird" discounts for all you planners out there. Stay tuned, dates and camp descriptions coming soon!

Warm Regards,

Tanja Roos, MNA
Executive Director, MEarth
