Chalice Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
Glad Alliance has designated this Sunday as Welcoming Sunday, a day to celebrate that we are an Open & Affirming church and remember why we specifically welcome the LGBT community here at Chalice. 

Pastoral confession: I started to put a gay pride flag here, then remembered this picture of a wedding I did last May. We have rainbow flags in our worship space as a sign of welcome. We welcome because the loves of Christ compels us. Sometimes, we forget how much this sort of welcome matters.

Chalice will be collecting new, warm pajamas for The Pajama Project.  Each year we have supported this heartwarming project, which provides pajamas to children at risk in the Foster Care system and children in group homes. Often when a child is removed from the home to enter the system, they do so without clothes.  A warm pair of pajamas can be of great comfort to them. We will collect children’s pajamas, all sizes, each Sunday during February.  
 
We will welcome Jay Willrett Pearson officially with a baby shower following worship this Sunday. You're invited to make a contribution to a college fund on a money tree that day or to bring a gift. Have questions? Contact Carol Grisez.
Prayer requests and updates are now being sent out through MailChimp as well, using the same address as before (prayers.chalice@gmail.com). Mail sent to that address will still be read. We recently updated the distribution list, so if you're not receiving updates (or don't know if you are), let the church office know. 
Regional youth retreats will be February 21-22. Chi Rho (6th-8th grades) will be at First Christian Tucson and CYF (9th-12th grades) at Desert Dove in Tucson. The cost for retreat is $25.  Registration forms  are available at church this Sunday! Questions? Contact Rev. Abigail.

A Few Notes
  • The Oasis is open tonight from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm for Young Adult Game Night.  That's 18-35 year old's , but we haven't kicked anyone out...yet!!!  Order a coffee and enjoy a complete evening of fellowship and fun.  Invite you friends to come along!
  • We will be hosting IHELP on Saturday, February 7 at 5:00 pm.  This is our opportunity to serve a meal to the homeless who will be our guests overnight.  If you would like to help provide or serve food for our guests, please speak to Kathy Corner.
  • Reverend Denny Williams, our Regional Minister, will be worshipping with us on February 8 as we officially welcome Rev. Abigail as our Pastor.  Join us after our worship service for refreshments and fellowship.
